I noticed an interesting post from Sharp Dressed Man about the Looked at me feature, have to say I love the feature and does give me a giggle.
But here is the strange thing that crops up time and time again, you see someone has viewed you, maybe only once but maybe a couple of times, you think to yourself "great hope they liked my profile, lets have a look at them and chat!"
Dum de dum yep looks good, like what they have written oh bugger they are not seeking single males.
Strange though as they are looking at my profile, which is clearly that of a single male!
What's even more amusing is when in the Looking for section it has Men but is also set to "not seeking single males!"
Anyway as usual just wanted to share! |

maybe they are looking for men.... but don't want the influx of men mail... so they decide who they want to get in touch via wink or pm.....
I know loads of people who do it that way |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
We both know that people have that setting to control their inbox, not their ...well, box!
It means they can talk to only the single men they wish to talk to without having to wade through acres of crap from people who didn't read their profile. |

In our experience the email filter doesn't have a big effect and is unnecessary. What is on our profile also has little effect.
What does make a big difference is selecting looking for single males in account details. If you compound that with the time waster magnet (looking to meet today thingy) then expect messages from single males to hit 3 figure numbers pretty quickly explains to some degree why not all messages are answered.

Surely the filter is 100%? The only single men who can message you are those to whom you've sent messages? Or is there a workaround that I shouldn't ask about? |

I believe that the filter also doesn't stop people from sending you a message by replying privately to a post made in the forum.
Not that I'm condoning people do that.
And not that I've ever done it myself... honest. I've always been of the opinion that to do so would be fruitless as the person/couple has enabled it for a reason, and not as some sort of test to see who can bypass it - this ain't the Krypton Factor. |

....although I just tested it now and it seems it doesn't. Maybe I imagined it.
Let's all pretend that post isn't really there. Mmmkay.
Anyway, time for another drink I think. |

What i never get about the 'looked at me' thing is
when you look at a profile and 2 mins later you get a message from them asking if you want to chat.....

LOL very true, some folks seem to believe that once you've looked at their profile it's practically a marriage proposal!
We often check the verifiers of the people who've contacted us, just to see the people they've been meeting, it's more nosiness than anything, but some get quite upset when it's explained we've come across them inadvertently! |

We aren't really interested if people look at us and then decide not to contact us, and can't understand the fuss other people make about it.
We aren't site supporters, so don't have the "looked at me" feature. But surely it only tells you that someone has clicked onto your profile, not that they have actually read it.
Also, we have a block on single guys, but we do have single guys as friends. If we find an interesting profile we will write to them. We put the block on when we got fed up with the mindless, thoughtless, even childish, oneline approaches.
You can be assured though, that if we contact you, we are interested |
