"If there was a 'magic bullet' phrase you could use in your initial messages that guaranteed a reply would you use it?"
I find 'hi it's Brad Pitt here' works quite well
Sadly when they ask for proof is where it starts to go wrong |

No. I want people to reply to me because they are interested in me, not because I've said some magic words or told them what they want to hear.
If they're not interested in me, for me, I'd rather a 'no thanks' or no reply. |

My 3 rules of thumb:
1) Treat them like a person and not a piece of meat
2) Understand that there are people out there that are better/longer/fitter/smarter/have more stamina than you
3) Be polite
4) Avoid hyperbole
5) Don't brag
I know that's more - but always under promise and over deliver |

To be honest, just typing in bloody English without making a million and one typos on a single 4 letter word would be a plus to us...
Come on lads, at least TRY and make it look like you're not typing "one handed" C x |
