Profile say max age 30,40 etc and yet they message me?

I've noticed this many times now.
People message me so I look at their profile. Their profile says that they're looking for people between the ages of 18-30, 40 etc and then they message me?
What I find sometimes is I find a profile which exactly meets what we're looking for but if their maximum age is 40 and theyve set up message filters I can't message them but then, weirdly, they message me lol

think they limit who can get in touch with them - lot of people say no single men but all the veris are just that - they like to search them out themselves |

There are exceptions to every rule  I have 30-40 limit on my profile but have chatted with younger and older, if you like look of someone you'll chat no matter the age |

Sometimes i change my filters to 32 when too many 50+ year olds message me, even though i'm looking for up to my age and above slightly.
Can't you message them back after they message you? Is weird that you can't. |

I believe if you message someone outside your filters then the recipient can reply, wouldn't make sense otherwise. It explains exceptions to message filters on the filters page I think. |

I have a wide age range and no age filters in place.
I don't see the point in restricting my options - and besides, someone who falls just inside my age range, might have a birthday tomorrow and end up outside it.
And in any case, some people age better than others, or at the other end of the scale, might look more mature than their young years etc.
It's a number - variety is the spice of life and all that. |

same as people saying they are looking for women/straight and then hooking up with TV`s lol

we all have preferences and filters, however if you read a profile that you take a likeing to for what ever reason most are prepared to lift their own restrictions for something they like the look of,
personally I would take it as a compliment if they chose you from outside their boundrys , especially age wise just means you look good for your age |

I constantly get messages from people who won't meet smokers even though I clearly state that I'm a smoker. Can only figure it's the male half messaging as women tend to read profiles…mostly! |

i had filters set with 42 as upper age, but initiated conversation with several guys in their early 50's, some super tasty older guys on here, but most that age i wouldnt want to meet, so Id rather go looking than have loads of messages from guys i wouldnt meet. |

Had this on a number of occasions now.. but chat with them for a while all pleasant and not crude as they first approach me and then they block for no reason lol.. crazy.. |

I agree to be honest. . Cant teally say.. oh yep the "41" limit is 40 and they a genuine person/couple and fit.. diff obviously if theres a 15year gap lol.. was on POF for awhile with age limit but didn't stop the randy 60yo women texting lol. |

I have my age limits set as they are based on the laws of dimishing returns...lo. For every year I increase the range for the one occasional guy who is suitable the numbers of guys who contact me that are completely unsuitable increases disproportionately.
If I see a post or meet from someone outside my age range and I like what I see then I will get in touch with them, Same if I get fabs or repeated views from someone who is out of my range.
As others have said, take it as a compliment that you are older and they still contact you.
In terms of contacts and filters. Someone can contact you if they fit into your limits and filters. Once they have contacted you you can obviously contact them back, even if you would not have been able to make the first approach.

I'm sure age limits are only used to filter and reduce the volume of messages from completely unsuitable play partners. Club meets can be entirely different - my first 'action' with someone on here was with a lady who specifies 18-36 |

Our age range is 18-45? I think lol
But that's hubbies preference really - Personally I prefer younger as I find it hard to stop thinking "you're the same age as my dad" lol |

I doubt that...I regularly chance my arm with a polite message to a woman or couple who specify younger than myself. On occasion I've had some very favourable responses.. |

I think it's just another reason age shouldn't come into it. Doesn't matter if you were 60, if you obviously grabbed someone's attention.
Younger or older if the attraction is there, does it really matter? |
