I'm due surgery this year and was wondering whether there are any of you guys who have gone through this, and how did the loose skin affect your sex life physically and mentally?

im guessing she means having excess skin removed due to having lost vast amounts of weight ...i have seen a tv programme of a guy who underwent this procedure and he looked amazing afterwards . .wishing you all the best for the future and congratulations on your achievement

That's a very good explanation of it

I was just asking the OP for clarification She may mean cosmetic surgery, or she may mean a gastric band/ bypass operation which will result in weight loss and may mean loose skin.

I used to be 16 and a half stone, have had 5 full term pregnancies, am now 12 stone. Don't know how big you are or how much you need to lose?

I have a bit of saggy skin on inner arms and inner thighs but i'm nothing like what obese people who have lost weight look like because i haven't lost all of what i should have. I have a mess of a stomach with excess skin though, mild stretchmarks as well. I'm not bothered by any of it physically, sometimes my stretchmarks can itch a bit. Mentally i don't care, my body is real and has been through things and it doesn't bother me to get naked in front of anyone, even guys with 'perfect' athletic bodies.

Think i do focus more on my body is healthier now and working better rather than focus on how it looks. Nobody has said anything bad about my body or tried to make me feel ashamed of it.

True I was assuming the weight was already lost.

I lost 6 stone in a year and was left with an "apron" and felt a lot less sexy than I did when I was a fuller figure !

Was going to have surgery to remove it ... But to be honest when I'm naked and having nawties with my play mate I never give it a thought now , but would probably wear a basque etc on a first meet off here to help me feel more at ease

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I have some lose skin on my lower tummy - but to be honest, not enough to consider surgery.

There can be complications, and loss of sensation - your surgeon will explain the risks.

My podgy tummy bit can be hidden with good underwear - and by the time I am naked its with someone I trust enough not to be disgusted - in fact, I've been told its barely even noticeable on a 37 yr old mum (and I lost 17 stone)

I was lucky that my skin never got too saggy/baggy during weight loss - I do have stretch marks on my arms, thighs and tummy, but very little loose. I was advised to body brush and drink extra water whilst slimming, and to moisturise twice daily. I lost the weight through exercise and careful eating.

She is having surgery - presumably gastric band or similar - and is worried about effect of loose skin on others who've had surgery. I think it was a typo in title.

Me too have recently lost about 4 and the apron got worse by my section scar but don't think about it when I am playing unless it's a first meet then I am a bit self conscious.

I was offered, and declined a bypass.

However, it was the kick up the backside I needed to get motivated and lose weight. My BMI has gone from above 70 down to around the 26 mark. It can be done without surgery.

I've lost Between 8-9 stone varies all the time I still have a lot to loose. I managed with out the band which was an option I had, but luckily they came out with a new medication which made a huge difference.

But because I didn't have band I do not qualify for skin removal surgery.

It bother me more than any of the men I meet.

Obviously it does affect you mentally, but there's no way I'm going to hide and not have fun.

Best wishes with your surgery x

You're quite young and your skin will still be quite elastic. Bio oil can help. I used to be a size 26 and now I'm an 18, after a sleeve gastrectomy five years ago. I'm quite a bit older than you but I don't have a lot of loose skin.

Gastric surgery is not an easy option but I wish you well with your surgery.

Please remember that sexiness and self confidence comes from within.

Good luck!! I know a few people that have had the operation and it worked great for them.

People are generally much less bothered about loose skin etc than you might think. As others have said, get some nice basques or similar underwear to cover up if it bothers you. The more confident you feel, the better you look. x

Hey OP, I lost 7 1/2 stone and where most of me turned out ok, my stomach wasn't. I haven't had surgery, just had to learn yo live with it (no matter what people tell you or what clichés are used, you may never learn to 'love' it). I've learned to love corsets, body's and bustiers though!!

If you need advice etc just PM me
