Hi All
No its not the usual thread. I woke up this morning wondering why unprotected sex is called bareback. Anyone know or have any serious or not so serious ideas?
I did a search on here and learnt more about risks than anything else.

I've always understood it to be a horse riding analagy. If one gets on a horse without a Saddle, one is riding bareback.
Pretty sure the rest is self explanatory |

Bareback sex is physical sexual activity, especially sexual penetration, without the use of a condom. The term is a slang word that originated in the gay community and comes from the equestrian term bareback, which refers to the practice of riding a horse without a saddle. It therefore has the connotation of being wild, dangerous, and fun. Barebacking usually refers to a conscious and deliberate choice to forgo condoms |

Yup. I spent most of my youth riding bareback.

Thanks. I see the logic of the wiki explanation and its roots in gay sex. Sometimes there is more than one possible explanation but that makes total sense.
Was there no word for vaginal intercourse without a condom before the "back" bit came in?
Horse riding without a saddle sounds like even more fun for the ladies..lol |
