Not really complaining, I'm just wondering what other peoples reactions is when you are messaging back and forth and they seem to send you four messages for every one of yours?
Like if you haven't replied within an hour or two, or a day, they send something else. And then another message after that?
I've been guilty of it once or twice if I like someone too much and it does seem to make a guy less interested.
Equally, being bombarded by messages over and over tends to put me off a bit too.
How do other people view it? Does it change your perception of someone on here? |

I find it annoying.
It is the desperate act of a wee kid jumping up and down screaming look at me.
No concept of having a life outwith fab, and comes across as pestering.
I wait for a reply before messaging again... and if none is forth coming then so be it.

Because its web based you can get a tendency to go towards the point of paralysis by analysis depending on the situation. We all know how literally some emails can get construed at work and here is no different......sometimes not what you say but how you say it. |

I don't mind it tbh, I think it shows that they are keen which is always good when chatting, I hate when your chatting and people take forever to respond |

Hey that's fine. There's no hard and fast rule. Especially if you have built up a good conversation. But when every single message I send is replied to with 4-5 of theirs it is off-putting to me. |

It's more annoying when the same person sends you another exact copy of the first message they sent you, after you have already told them no thank you. Copy paste much? C xx |

Depends who it is, if it's someone who maile me and i didn't reply and they keep mailing me i don't see the point, why keep mailing someone who obviously has no interest in you? If it's someone I've been talking to it does not bother me if they send a few messages so long as they don't come over as needy |

I agree this bothers me more. Some people send a message then don't log on for days so I forget that I have replied to them. I find that sort of conversation difficult to continue. |

I don't usually converse by message, but more a case of something pops into my head and it gets written down. Thankfully sometimes I am no where near a keyboard when this happens or people may start to suspect I am even more flakey than I really am.... |

And those that keep messaging even after several no thanks messages, even going as far as messaging to say they are sorry their profile wasn't what we was looking for so they have changed it, hope it changes your mind |

Had it once on another site. A guy started chatting to me, we were getting on great then I had to get back to work and he said he was going to the gym, fine, not a problem.
After work I go online (he knew when I was finishing) and was greeted with a whole conversation he had had with himself that ended with something along the lines of "Well, if you're not going to meet or even talk to me it's over"
I'm just sat thinking "What the hell has gone on?!". I stupidly messaged back to explain that I was at work, like I had told him before, and that I can't just be online all the time just waiting for him to message me. That didn't go down well, he ended up being blocked.

I think everyone can tell when the conversation isn't flowing in the direction.
Sure if people are distracted with chores or work its impossible to have a freely flowing conversation, but after one or two no replies it's obvious that it would be time to move on. Replying more than once to the same message is a little desperate. |

I had a pen pal in Sweden when I was still at school. It used to take 5 days for my letter to get to Sweden, and 5 days for it a letter to get back to me. Plus time to do some real writing with a pen and some paper...and making sure I had a stamp for the envelope...
Haven't things changed? Can you imagine a 10+ day time lag in correspondence these days?
Maybe there's something to this "stamps principle" though? Imagine having to pay for a message to be delivered? Wouldn't that cut out the time wasters? |

I hate it when people persistently ask "you gone? Lol" or "did I say something? Lol" when I don't reply for a few moments. It's the kind of insecurity that isn't endearing and just makes me think I'll have to put up with incessant nagging texts. I'd rather a ratio of 1:1 messages. |

Or the ones that keep messaging, even when you haven't replied. They actually get a warning message from the site, but they still send another message, usually a copy/paste of the original message. |

I don't do that, I wait a reasonable time for a reply, when after 5 years it hasn't come I get a little despondent, after 10 years I give up and block

Every so often we get messaged or winked at by the same people over and over again, even though we have never responded! It seems that they are either desperate and trying their luck to see if we respond, or they've forgotten that they have previously messaged/winked at us (umm...isn't this recorded on the side of the page though? ). Recently, a guy messaged us saying that it liked our profile, etc. etc., but the strange thing is, is that we've hidden it! |

The message notification thingymebob at the side of the page is on available to site supports. I do use this as it helps keep a track of whats going on. I also use the notes for people profiles. Yeah there are some that might be thinking have the forgot I will chance my arm again and this is juts plain stupid. Maybe use the block option to prevent unwanted 2nd and 3rd messages |

It happened to me not so long ago and it really got on my nerves. Every time I answered he'd send two or three back but the worst was when I logged of for 5 minutes and there were six messages. Where did I go, Why didn't I answer, Was it something he said, When can we meet.
I had to block in the end as he was coming across as desperate and far too pushy |
