Mrs N suffers regular attacks. Would suggest a trip to the GP, there are medications out there for sever attacks or to help reduce the frequency of them. He/she will also hopefully try and see if there's a trigger that causes them for you. |

She has prescription meds which usually knock it on the head pretty quick. If not then unfortunately for her, the only solution is painkillers, a dark room and try to sleep it off. |

try migraleve..has different pills to take at different stages...codeine helps initially, but after the first few doses it can actually make headaches worse as it constricts blood vessels worsening the feeling of tightness..you have my sympathy, hope you feel better soon |

I suffer badly with migraines - hurts to even put my head down on the pillow and I am so sick that my GP recommended taking dissolved tablets so my body has better chance at absorbing some before I am sick again
My GP advised taking 600mg ibuprofen as with migraines the blood vessels constrict so the ibuprofen helps reduce this.
Go to your doctor for help and medication |

I get them from flashing/flickering lights or out of the blue. Medication lessens the blow but bed and a very dark room is the only place I want to be when they occur.
Horrible things. Luckily only get them a few times a year. |

Ahhhh i really hope mine dont get like that! dark room an quietness is calling when im home tomorrow i think!
I read that lack of sleep can be a factor that causes them and so can stress, but i cant sleep because of the pain and its then stressing me cus i cant sleep, just one big circle of shyte! |

Make sure it's a cool and dark room. Found that with the heating on, it raises the blood pressure which in turn makes the headache more acute |

I got migraines really bad for years, since I was a teenager. I was physically sick with them as well, as everyone else has said a pitch black dark room always helps. But I also went to the doctors and they recommended seeing an optician and it turns out that I couldn't see out of one eye properly. After getting glasses my migraines have reduced greatly, maybe something to do with that? T xx |

I always find mine happen after a stressful time, just as you start to relax. Also find strong sunlight over gravel can set mine off. Usual triggers are said to be tiredness, cheese, red wine and chocolate. If you can find what triggers yours, it can help lessen them. I also use migraleve etc, which if taken earlier enough, just as my vision starts to go, help alleviate. But if I leave it too late, a lie down in a dark, quiet room suffering. |

Amy used to get them pretty bad. Oncoming-rain, lack of natural sunlight, constant exposure to artificial light, constant noise and whistling used to set her's off badly to the point of blurred vision and physical sickness and, as others have said, she just used to lock herself up in a dark room.
I also used to stroke her hair for her and give her a massage.
There are many things that can trigger migraines that have already been mentioned but another possibility could also be your wheat intake. A lot of people who suffer with migraine seem to recommend cutting down on bread, pasta, ect. |

Personally I'd avoid opiate based pain relief as regular use will just cause rebound headaches.
For some oxygen is the most effective way to relieve migraine or cluster headaches.... |
