Why do some men think it's a good strategy to send a offensive message to get your attention then say it wasn't meant that why and try to suck up to you?
Weirdos! |

There's an unfortunate, and yet pervasive, notion among males that a good way to pick up women is to insult them. Quite a few books have been written along these lines and the even more depressing fact is that, in real life, it seems to work. In fact, I've seen men use it quite successfully. Personally, I've always felt it was just too nasty and manipulative.
Of course it's yet another thing that doesn't translate online... but this is probably what these men are trying to do... unsuccessfully.
The general idea is that it's better to be memorable than forgettable. If a woman meets you again and remembers you but can't remember why she remembers you, then it appears to be relatively easy to make her think she remembers you because you're 'special', especially if her memory of you is entwined with feeling inferior to you, which is what insulting her will do. Meanwhile, if a woman has met you before but doesn't remember you... then she's likely to make up her mind that you're not really worth remembering and you're gonna fight an uphill battle from there.
I should hasten to add that these are not my ideas... they're the kind of thing you read in those dumb "how to pick up women" books that curiosity got the better of me one time and I enjoyed reading. I say 'enjoy' because they're an amusing mix of amateur psychoanalysis, trial and error real life testing, and machievellian thinking... it's like reading the garbage end of romantic fiction. A bit like the rubbish they print in Cosmopolitan or other wopmen's magazines...addictive...but trashy |
