Inspired by a thread in the 'Introductions' section of the forum, I am wondering if a student-orientated group of some sort would be of any interest to any, well, students?
I have posted this in the Support/Advice thread as a couple of the other forum sections move much faster; this may be buried. Also, it mostly applies to UK people! I understand this is not a 30 second thing!
I've seen a number of 'young guy'/'student couple' posts crop up & nothing has really been done to quell the monotonous rehashes. Perhaps a fun, relaxed and friendly solution could be thought up?
/////////////////////////
I am not suggesting that a new section be made on Fabswingers or anything - asking for a custom-built section is totally overboard and would be difficult to regulate... However, something we can arrange using IM clients etc, yatter yatter yater. Obviously, we'd all be joining from Fabswingers
////////////////////////
There are obviously many obstacles to overcome and that's why I'm asking for the thoughts and opinions of you lovely users
- What do we define as a student? (Under/Post-Graduate etc.)
- How to prove studentship? (This'll be lax, no Student ID proofs!)
- Where could we post or chat?
- Importantly, is this even a good idea?!
////////////////////////
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Men, Women, Couples and others - all welcome! |

"Why do you want a seperate group for students? "
There have been a number of threads where students are asking if any other students partake in the lifestyle. It may be worthwhile having somewhere we could engage with each-other a little more.
Nothing purely exclusive or clique-esque, but just an opportunity to exchange pleasantries, haha.
"Not all students are young, I'm a student.at the moment.
I think if people want a separate group one will happen. But not until after Countdown has finished"
I agree, we're not all young. I've asked what we could possibly define as a 'student'
"Huzzah!"

Do you want it set up on here, like a separate forum section or chat room? |

As mentioned in my original post, I think it would be unwise to create a separate section in the forum for something like this. Difficult to 'enforce' (perhaps?) etc.
A chat room may be possible, but I can totally see people just hopping into the group to eye on students, haha. (As if similar things don't happen in the chat room at the moment, though!)
Having an external chat room or something could be on option - but for now I'm really just asking if anybody else has some better ideas |

Well unless you can verify yourself as a student then you cant use the cam or forum sections.
This could be done a number I'd ways from ticking a box to student numbers or grad photo verification.

People, myself included, may not want to associate their membership here with their official Student ID number etc. I think it's unnecessary to do something like that & very indiscreet. |

Yeah, it seems impossible to verify student status without major identity exposure.
Perhaps occupations should be something you can search? I notice a lot of people on here look for people in the forces, or in uniform etc...students could be included
Then if a particular student takes your fancy, you can verify each other privately. |

That's a somewhat decent idea, I agree. I doubt I'd go as far as to request an addition such as that - but it is something worth thinking about.
Private verification would be the way to go, I agree. Nothing majorly exposed!
"Can I join?"
Sure, although nothing has really been set up at all, yet. Just discussing for the time being. |
