Would you stop if swinging went mainstream?
Jump to: Newest in thread
There have been a few threads in here about if swinging will become socially acceptable etc - the same way that in just a generation homosexuality has become accepted and mostly celebrated.
That however is not my question... Which is, if "tomorrow" it was all100% socially acceptable, where no one would bat an eyelid at their boss saying they swung by club "xxx" after a night out with their wife, would it lose any of it's appeal to you?
Personally, a vast majority of people in swing clubs are genuinely easy to get on with, partly because I think it's a certain part of a personality to be able to enter the scene, and enjoy it confidentially while retaining respect for those around, while it's not in the mainstream.
IF it was mainstream, do you think that you'd get a lot more people trying and as such end up with more situations where one half being d*unk and kicking off? And similar type issues - thus effectively killing the scene as it is now? (I know this does happen now, but can't help thinking it would become the norm)
Or loads more clubs springing up diluting the numbers?
Just intrested on people's thoughts?
My personal thought is that I think in a some ways it could potentially ruin the whole scene? But who knows...

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
I believe it would get a bit crazy at the beginning, but would settle down after a while. The benefits far outweigh the downsides. Clubs would be in easily acceptable locations, instead of the middle of nowhere or on dark industrial parks. More competition would increase facilities and (hopefully) cleanliness. We could educate people with regards to condom use and manners. And there would be more bloke for me. |

I think you're right in that, there could be many advantages. Whether they ultimately outweigh the disadvantages I'm undecided....
Would be intresting though having a work party there!!

"Hopefully loads more women .. Yay"
Hmmm I think you'd get loads more people trying it for the sake of it - imagine a club where 50% of single males and 50% of couples are new... The potential for someone stepping over the line I think is quite high... Cue - you looking at my missus???
Maybe I just underestimate people, but it goes on now - but normally dealt with very low key because most people in there know the situation.

No...but we'd reserve judgement as to the influx of people and how it affected the dynamic...it would be fabulous to not have to watch what I say on a Monday morning if we've had a brilliant meet or party that weekend...or to have to lie at non swinging parties about how we met the hosts...but I would be concerned that it would have an effect on the people coming into the hobby, in rather the same way that 50 shades and other publicity around that lifestyle has attracted a lot of wannabes who don't understand what it's all about, I think it would also increase the number of timewasters...the sites would be far more open and available, but less people would actually follow through... |

I think swinging will remain as it is, on one side you've got the open minded people but on the other side theres people that are big on religion and those kind of things so it will pull in the other direction too |

If it did you could have some great reality TV. Come Dine With Me could become Come Swing With Me. Every night the couples change partners then score each other. Fantastic idea. |

Lol now that would be entertaining "Jodie has arranged a gangbang for her guests after dinner entertainment - they'll each be tied down and fucked within an inch of their lives... Derek doesn't seem too happy...." |

although more newbies would be going that might not 'get' the rules - they soon would and word would get about that such a thing isnt acceptable there- i also guess that there are a lot of people wanting to try out a club (even off fab a lot want to but shy off) and they would relax and try it out with less anxiety - i think its gradually happening anyway |

Swinging sites like porn have became fairly mainstream, porn/swinging/escort sites are big earners and get more hits than the non sexual sites.
The problem will be that like porn people will want everything for free as it gets bigger to the masses so all the genuine sites/clubs wont be able to stay afloat giving the con artists a free run to rip off people.
Most vanilla people i know have heard of Fab/Hamster/AW etc so its not our little secret no more.
If we could keep time as it is now things would be great but like all good things this dont happen, the government dislike swinging even more than porn and like porn will do all they can to stop its growth in the name of morality. |

People will still have house parties even if they closed all the clubs. They can't stop us.
Those MP's are such a vanilla bunch... |

if it became mainstream then more clubs would appear to cope with the demand and for a lot of us bring clubs a lot closer to home meaning more of a local theme and to be honest we wouldn't be happy to go to clubs with family friends work mates and even neighbours and very possibly people you wouldnt want to mix with
answering directly to your question , no it would not put us off |

"There seems to be an idea that it's all about clubs, I haven't been to one in years and I've had lots of fun without them thank you "
You're right the question was not directly about clubs, however I think clubs would be where the effects would be most greatly realised.
I think it's a good point - maybe those who rarely visit clubs would would be lest affected?

We reckon it wouldn't make any difference at all if swinging "went mainstream". As it would still be a certain type of person who would do it - the same type as do swinging now...
Swinging is a social interaction centred around sex as a recreational activity - all treated light-heartedly (the banter at swinging meets can be hilarious, can't it?!). There will always be some types of people for whom swinging is something they could not contemplate a life without, while there are some for whom it would never be the right thing - they can just know it without even trying it. |

"answering the question - yes we would still do it"
This is the original point and the answer is surely yes. I've done it for years in one guise or another, I (and I presume most others0 do it for pleasure. If it became the norm the pleasure would still be the same |

What we like about swinging is :
Most guys can not just sleep with one woman for the rest of their lives.
With swinging - at least we are all honest about it and its just sex for fun.
Doesn't mean I love my wife any less - but I don't cheat on her and we only party together. |

Don't you think there is a market out there for the more sophisticated swinger? Clubs that charge for membership and/or entry would expect to have a higher quality clientele especially as bad behaviour would seriously affect their business model. You get what you pay for, so to speak. |

Yes there are expensive swingers clubs for the upmarket swinger just like expensive brothels and probably way beyond mosts price range on here.
If swinging is diluted to a degree where its everywhere the bottom would fall out of the market, private swinging parties will always go on like they have since Roman/Greek times but without a profit structure sites and clubs would close within a short while because of competition.
Sometimes it pays commercially not to be in everyones eyes, the council sort of tolerate the small amount of clubs at present because they are beneath the status quo's knowledge. |

Mainstream or not surely it is a lifestyle choice. Personally I would prefer if it was more socially excepted as I hate meeting guys in my everyday life that I have an attraction with and then explaining my sexual lifestyle choice. |
