What did Sydney university do?

This may have been on here before I was around but since I've seen it on other sites too, what did they do with people's pictures?

Am I right in thinking that the disclaimer on some profiles wouldn't make any difference?

And finally, has anyone seen any of their pictures used anywhere else without their permission?

???

Menston near Ilkley

It's complete and utter tosh, the warnings are people following like sheep.

"It's complete and utter tosh, the warnings are people following like sheep. "

All this does is makes people's profiles longer and clogs up the fab servers.

Admin point out in the FAQ that the disclaimer has never held water, I've been on the scene over 10 years and its been around as far as I can remember. I believe they used swingers sites to do surveys but they did not take pictures that's just part of the urban myth that has followed.

Sydney University did an extensive study of swinging websites several years ago and after reviewing all of their findings they found that the answer was 42

Pasting the warning in their profile gives people a completely false sense of power, making them feel that they can threaten and lord it over a large educational institution that in any case has absolutely no interest in their sex life....an ego-boost posing as a security measure.....sheesh!

I've just deleted my legal disclaimer : when I joined I thought it was the 'done thing' to do but now I'm more worldly about this site I realise it's quite ridiculous! It's now gone ....

Use it as a selection device for either picking out or avoiding the gullible on here!

That place is run by a bunch of rip off winkers. Took me over a year to get my payments cancelled.

Shame as the chatrooms were brilliant but wont be going on there again.

I was wondering the same thing. There's an interesting discussion in the link below saying there was no Sydney study. The warning has been around for about twenty years and they think it began as a social experiment to see if the instruction to copy paste it would make it catch on. Seems like it did -
