the only thing we cant stand is text speech, theres no need for it. your writing a message, not a text to a friend. You have a keyboard, use the keys lol

Yes. Some people like to feel superior by pointing out the shortcomings in others.

Spelling gets worse with age.

The thing I don't get is - the would of/ could of brigade. Some with good degrees. How do you go through so many years education + come out with that?

My spelling is fine but I can forget my punctuation as I tend to write how I speak, very quickly.

Bad spelling is a turn off but I would never point it out to people, I can spell but make a lot of typos, so I have no room to talk if I am pointing things out.

I wouldn't worry about it, most people here can overlook the odd spelling mistake.

I find it amusing how some won't meet because of weak spelling.

Maybe I should give people a maths test before a meet as that's one of the things I'm ok at lol

That won't work that well either, a program needs to check both spelling and grammar so it can pick up on the words that can be spelt several ways.

Don't forget the capital P at the beginning of your sentence and the full stop at the end or as you say, can't you be bothered?

I can understand text speak when you were limited to 180 or so characters per message (for you kids out there, phones used to be used for talking and SMS only)

But nowadays? Pmsl lol m8

I never use my spell checker, so very occasionally a typo might slip through.

In 'Vanillaland', I am on a dating site and point out that good grammar and spelling are a big plus for me, but here, I let my standards slip a little.

"?No as just no time for all that . "

I know that, I just don't know why so many feel the need to correct everyone else.

I wish there was a forum rule against it so them that ain't to hot with spelling (like Shaz) could feel comfortable posting also.

Just use spell check! Don't worry about poor grammar either, it's text speak which most people hate.

Actually the forum rules do say "No nit-picking please"

so really correcting someone's spelling could be classed as nit-picking could it not? thus braking the forum rules?

I don't like text speak. But spelling mistakes don't bother me and I would never be so rude as to point them out. I don't think it's anything to do with being lazy either. How could it be?. Some people are just not good at spelling. It's not their fault. I know somebody who is not good at spelling and they would love to be able to spell. They just can't do it. But they are not stupid or lazy. In fact they are very clever.

Fact is we all have our own set of meet criteria. Some won't meet those with tattoos, or hairy genitals, bald, beard, text speak, poor command of English...the list is endless.

Personally, if I need a Rosetta Stone to decipher a message I wouldn't bother but I certainly wouldn't point out bad spelling as I've seen others do!

Beat me too it

Grammar can be overlooked, however spelling shows you've taken time with your message. If your phone can't correct it. It isn't worth sending imho

I used to be uptight about spelling a few years ago. But I think it was your posts that helped me realise what an idiot I was being. Spelling doesn't matter, the person does. So thank you. x
