Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
"Text talk does. Poor grammar and spelling I can forgive. After all, the person could be dyslexic."
I'm more forgiving of garmmar and speeling in forms n' chat, cos its immediate.
I do think that more people should be able to spellcheck a profile though. |

That's just how I see it. There's no excuse for text chat though.
Using my phone to type messages - like now - can lead to strange words or grammatical errors. I'm not daft really..... it's my phone playing silly buggers. |

I'm sure someone moves the keys on my phone at the exact moment that I log onto a forum. Keyboard pixies I'm sure of it! |

Text speak in a profile does put me off.
Spelling mistakes don't put me off... though obvious typos on a profile often have me hovering over the delete button. It seems to say something about a person... and it's usually something along the lines of "I couldn't even be arsed to read through what I have said about myself, that's how much effort I feel is required to get a leg-over on here" |

I like a profile to be well written and the same for e-mails but won't dismiss the ones that are not so well written, who am I to judge, I didn't even pass my 11+ and have no GCSE's or CSE's mine can be as bad as everyone else's.
Text speak, delete mail or move on to the next profile. |

"Does text talk , poor "grammer" and spelling put people off profiles - "
Absolutely. What really pisses me off is when people use words that really are not shorter or time savers - "wat" for "what" and so on.
Hell I don't even use txt speak on my phone! |

Striking the right balance with a profile is quite a daunting task. too long, not enough info; not setting out your limits, too negative. But text speak is unforgivable. |

1st message text speak translates to please delete.
2nd or subsequent message translates to how the hell did i get myself into this or more importantly how the hell am i going to get out of it. |

I hate txt talk and im sure a vast amount of people do, i dont use it even if typing a txt message on my phone which is very rarely and would prefer to make a quick call. Spelling mistakes i dont worry about unless its a bad case of them as some people type so quickly its inevitable.
Im typing this fairly quick so there might be a few typo's in this |

In a word YES. If someone is lazy with there typing it hints at laziness in other areas. |

Text talk is lazy and if we see a profile that is written like that or get any messages in text talk we delete or move on.
Cant stand having to sit and translate half of the message. I dont even text in text talk lol |

My spelling is awful. My grammar is not too bad. For that reason I have installed a plug in for firefox that checks spelling for me (Caths is MUCH better). I can, therefore, forgive some poor spelling or grammar but not too much. The person writing it may be dyslexic or in a hurry or may simply be prone to typos but there was one couple that kept emailing us and their messages were all but undecipherable. They were blocked.
Text speak. I am afraid there simply is no excuse for it. A terse response about reading our profile and an instant block is all they get. |

Do be careful in that though as ive been chatting to someone new and he is dyslexic, sometimes ive no idea what he is trying to say |
