I'm interested in the answers too. In real life, are all men commitment phobic? I know that is a dreadful sweeping generalisation but can only go by own experiences. Please don't get me wrong, I have never been the girl who is looking at wedding dresses after the 2nd date but I do feel that men sometimes want their cake and eat it but are pretty poor at reciprocating.

That's a big ask....
But it's a no from me. Saying that our sky box is full up from my husbands series link shite. He even records the same programme on different channels.
It sends me barmy when he records two shite progs and we have to watch one from the planner.

That is a terrible generalisation......but a thoroughly understandable one. We aren't all scared of commitment though. If I found the right person Id settle and marry quite happily. But on here, on a site like this, men are bound to be a little shallow and just want sex.

Honestly......I know a lot of people are saying men want someone to take care of them and all that crap, but I'm genuinely more than capable of doing that myself. I want someone who is going to show me respect, be respectable, be there when I need them, and be a damn good fuck, it's as simple as that. |

I can't speak for other men, but as for me, a woman that truly loves me as I am, knows everything about me and uses my strengths to keep me strong and my weaknesses to make me stronger. I want a partner in life. Someone to share my experiences with and grow as we grow old together. Great sex is always good. Luckily I have all that in my wife. She rocks. I don't think you can generalise about anything, but going on the majority of men and women, men's attitude to commitment is the same as women's to sex. Though granted not the majority of women on here as they don't possess the same hang ups to such a degree.
Men actually don't mind commitment. There's security in it, warmth and someone who's there for you. This suits men as they like peace and quiet at some times and less stresses as well as the fact they fall in love and enjoy it as much as women do. However they're reluctant to commit compared to women as they often think the woman they commit to, once its been decided for the long haul, be it marriage or whatever, will change thinking "job done" or worse still try to change them, through a nagging campaign to gradually grind them down. So a lot duck and dive to avoid this, somewhat irrationally.
And women are rather fond of sex, surprise surprise! Its just they tend to worry a lot that once they have had sex with a guy he'll think the"job done" and not pay her too much attention afterwards as he'll feel he doesn't need to. So when younger they often waste far too much time pissing about and not pursuing what they actually want sexually. Till most hit middle age and think "Fuck that approach. I want sex and Im finally going let on that I do".
Most of both sexes usually get over these strange hang ups that probably contain some element of truth though not to the extent either sex believes by say the age of 45 or so and finally start to relax and fully enjoy all life has to offer.
Just a pity it takes them so long.

Only reason men feel the need to "fix" anything is because we have been socially raised to be the "dependable defender". If there's a problem, we'll solve it. From changing a light bulb to running a country, men have seen this as obligation and duty. Purpose if you will.

What we do want, is the respect of other men, and acknowledgement (in some men, adulation) of women. I dare say men find it motivating: can you imagine being in a non-voluntary role and no ackowledgement or motivation coming your way? (Sheeesh, I must be careful here!)
Now, what do I really want in a woman? Simple:
Non-swinging = Everything I need I can get by myself.
