I've had the entire top of my foot up to my ankle and my inside lower arm done all the way to my wrist. I'm not going to lie, the wrist was a bit ouchy but it doesn't hurt for long and it healed quickly. I had more of an issue with my arsecheeks going numb because I was say down for so long! |

You will be fine focus on something. It takes your mind off it. I had my first one done a few weeks ago on my ribcage. Not going to lie it hurt but was worth it when i saw the finished result |

It's agony get d*unk 1st take loads of paracetamol and take a stick to bite on hard..........
Is what I would say if you were having your ribs tattooed.
Wrist is a walk in the park don't let your mind get over excited it'll be over before you know it. Good luck ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

closer than you think |
Don't get d*unk! Alcohol thins the blood and it will bleed more and anyway any reputable tattooist won't touch you if d*unk
I have one across the back of my hand and it wasn't that uncomfortable
Hope all goes well x ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

It'll be a bit hurty but it's worth it. I had a 2 hour long foot tattoo recently. It's a good job I'm good with pain! I love it though...the tattoo lol. |

You'll be fine. I've survived 3, one on my side, strangely, hurt the most.
Like someone above said - focus on something else. My tattooist chats a lot (like me) and I was also watching someone else getting a tattoo so that all kept my mind occupied. Don't overthink it and enjoy the results ! ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

All tattoos hurt, I have got the insides of my wrists, outsides of my arms, neck, back, thigh and ankles done and the one that hurt most was my thigh. It's the first few seconds that hurt the most and then you kinda go into a zone and it is very bearable - you will be fine and just concentrate on how amazing you will feel afterwards.....I bet you will go back for more ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

Yes, I agree with the lady above. I started with a discreet one on my right hip. Had that extended across my back, had some script on my left hip, then all out and had a foot tattoo. I've an idea for a wrist tattoo and then that's it...honest! |

All tattoos hurt
Depends on your pain threshold, the artist, length (pun) of time in said area, and the placement.
Wrist isn't too bad to be honest, had a good few hours on there the top inside on your wrist is a little tender but a small area. If your worried it might be a bit much take some paracetamol as the numbing cream makes it harder for the ink to absorb because it's been absorbing the cream
Also make sure to get a tube of bapanthen. Best thing to help healing
Hope this helps ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Yes it hurts but make whatever noise you need to make! They're used to it.
Take a sugary drink in with you as you don't want a sudden blood sugar drop which may leave you feeling faint.

I had half sleeve done a couple of months ago now..took a whole day but the art work was well worth all the pain...you get use to it though,& it's not that painful infact I liked the feeling & hardy flinched only right near the end when she kept having to go over it alittle...
Take plenty of sweets & lucazade keep your blood sugars up!..you will be fine!.. (smiles) k xx |

Wrists don't hurt made my fingers twitch but take a drink with you something sugary keep taking sips obviously with the other wrist and just distract yourself till your use to it. But once you start they are addictive I should know I have a few and planning my next ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

My first tattoo was a portrait on my calf
Sensation for me felt like a hot poking feeling
Take plenty of water to re-hydrate you
Just ask him to take it slowly at first
My first was a 2 hour sitting
And beware
They are addictive
Already after my next one x |

Whats wrong with henna? Have it done with henna, keep getting it redone, and if after a year you are still happy with the design and the idea of having you body PERMANENTLY scarred, then go for it. Expensive to get it removed though. |

It's funny that so many people choose their wrist for their first tattoo.....
It's very well known to be a sore part due to how thin the skin is there.
Saying that, a lot of people still go on to having more done after their wrist, so it can't be that bad..
Plus, the good news is - you're tattooist won't feel a thing ![](/icons/s/wink.gif) |

Rumour is it hurts closer to bone.
Mine was my right arm, so I cant confirm but a LOT of people were there when I get mine done and they said it felt almost exactly the same.
Trust me, its about 1/3rd the pain sensation of something like a blood test. Not even that - It just takes a while is all.
By the time its done you wont even realise you're finished. x

I think that rumour is wrong.
My ribs on my back didn't hurt anything as much as over my kidney. The hollow inside my pelvis was excruciating whilst on my hip bone was just really painful.
As every other tattooed person says "I think I'm done now" ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Sorry but you have no right to tell anyone what to do with their body.
She has clearly been thinking and planning this for some time so is less likely to regret it.
Also no they don't always hurt, it depends on your pain threshold. I found some areas a bit sore but I wouldn't say painful.
I hope the OP is really happy with her tattoo. I love all of mine and will certainly get more over time. ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

I've had about 12 hours done but recently had a cover up on the bottom of my back. The outline hurt so much I used numbing cream for the next bit. Didn't feel a thing. The colour wasn't effected. Feel like I cheated a bit ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |
