Pen pals and contact mags I assume?
I remember when I was 17 my mates put an advert in a teen magazine in my name for pen pals....over the next few weeks I had nearly 200 replies from girls all over the country.....some of them very rude/naughty....and several with very revealing Polaroids....
Yes it was still possible. Though this wasn't really swinging. I did take two up on their offers lol....my mates were sick it had backfired on them! |

"Did you swing before the internet made sites like Fab possible?
If so how did you meet other swingers?" ye i did used what was known as contact magazines ,you wrote to a box number then awaited replies, so you wrote letters to each other( not joking ) even sent photos thru the post,
it was prob better then as no fakes timewasters and hiding behind a computer |

The good old contact mags, Northern Link, Rondevouze.. Send off your postal order and first class stamps then wait..............................................................................and wait...................................................and wait!! eventually letters cam eback and 9 times out of 10 the women were on the game and wanted payment!!! so time wasters back then too but did get a couple of good meets from them.

I started off swinging using contact mags when I was married, many moons ago. Good old Desire etc, writing ads, sending them off, waiting for them to be published, then waiting for replies.
There were still plenty of dreamers and time wasters even then, but still had lots of fun.
Met one couple that introduced us to house parties, where we met quite a few other couple and things got easier from then on.
But t'inerweb has certainly maid things a lot easier |

We once met a couple, that we had contacted through a magazine. We only met for a drink, and to test the water. The woman hardly spoke all night, and the guy made up for it ! The following day, the guy phoned Sandra and told her his wife had no interest in taking things further, but he wanted to meet Sandra, regularly. That was the end of that. |

contact mags! it was a slower process and also the contact numbers in papers which were damned expensive! that didn't last long! |

"Were there ever any of those parties you hear about with car keys in a bowl?"
Plenty of those party's but most first meets were through contact mag's like Rendezvous. Those were the days when you got older just waiting for replies lol. We met loads of people that way and through party's, we're still good friends with quite a few too who still swing and are now on here. |

The magazines we used were Forum, Rendezvous and Silk Swingers. We subscribed to these annually alternating between them each year. I would go through the mag every month ticking off all those I fancied meeting which was nearly all of them, Chris would then spend the next hour crossing them all out until we was left with 2 or 3.
People had to make an effort to meet in those days, writing letters and swapping pics by post (no digital cameras back then)exchanging land line numbers, then wait for a reply and hopefully your pics returned. Its all to easy these days. |

Some of them ran for more than 20 years. At least via the mags you could be sure people were comfortable getting contact at their home address. |
