Free House?

As I believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question, I wonder if some of you could perhaps provide a little enlightenment.

On occasion, I have seen the term 'Free House' mentioned in Statuses.

Is there a general consensus on what this means or, as it appears with many things on fab, is it open to interpretation.

For example, I would take this to mean that anyone can turn up for fun - but of course, they would be required to message for details - so of course, the user who had posted the original status can effectively screen out those that they are not interested in meeting - and thereby it's not really a free house after all.

What's everyone else's take on this?

"Meaning they can accom??"

Would make sense, but have seen this on profiles that show they can accom even when they don't have a 'Free House' status.

That's how I'd read it.

In Scotland, it's called an 'empty'.

A Free House to me means a pub which is not tied to a particular brewery, so can serve what the fuck it wants

Is it in the context of 'we've got a free house next Saturday / Sunday blah, blah, blah?' If so, then I would take it as meaning that their kids / flatmate won't be around so they're free to play and / or accommodate.

I've always thought that it meant that you've got the house to yourself

I'd say this too, they are home alone and would be able to accommodate, not there looking for loads of people to turn up
