does anyone know why people keep putting that useless disclaimer on theyre profiles
so many dull 2 line profiles with 12 lines if disclaimer and threats of legal action ..whats the deal?
why do people think anyone would want to use theyre boring profile for research anyway |

I find it hilarious that people think it carries legal weight.
Can someone tell me if they've actually tried to seek legal advice over pictures that have been lifted from a public domain website.
If you don't want it to be used or abused, ffs don't upload it in the first place |

Not all members of this site are based in the uk. In other countries, the warning is valid and would hold up in court. Actually, it would be if benefit if it did in all countries. People should be able to use the internet without an automatic presumption that it will become public knowledge, just as you would expect your private correspondence via email or snail mail, text or media message, phone or personal conversations to maintain a degree of privacy. |

I knew a couple who had the wife's picture downloaded by someone she worked with and who was on here. She nearly lost her job. That's why people tend to write disclaimers in the hope that others will not do the same. |

well ive had pics and my profile stolen and used on other sites /profiles . thats the chance u take putting it on the internet..but if i was that worried about it i wouldnt put pics up because people can do whatever they want with it and u cant really do a lot to stop them..its just too much hassle and most wouldnt want the publicity i guess .so to me its just annoying ..like the disclaimer |

I have my own, its nothing to do with sidney university.
its my profile anyway...if people find the disclaimers boring so be it..it doesnt put me off meeting those who display it.
in my opinion, peoples pictures(unless showing illegal acts), should not be used as a detriment to them by any person,company or authority.
the site, is a membership site..that means anyone joining is a member, whether they display pics or not..they shouldnt be using their membership to 'out' people.
