"any other girls got one of these fitted??
just had one fitted arrggg the pain is fooking terrible a week on .......... "
I had one fitted years ago and it does take a while for pain to settle down,i was told your body treats it as a foriegn object to tries to reject it so you get contractions type pain.
The pain did settle down eventually and i stopped having periods when i had it so that was a welcome bonus x |

My daughter had one and eventually had it removed, apparently whatever weight you are either under or over you stay the same for the whole time you have it in?
My daughter was having no luck shifting the weight after the baby but as soon as she had the coil removed her weight went down.
I've had other friends say the same happened with them too. xxx |

been considering getting one for a while, have spoken to my nurse about it and she says you can have period type pains for 2-3 weeks afterwards, thats the only thing thats putting me off getting one fitted. |

i had one fitted and have had no bother at all with it ! odd cramp time to time but you would get that if u had a period anyway ! had it replaced as it had came to end of its time and was tender for afew hours but pain killers took edge off . next day was fine and id forgotten id had it done .i had major mood swings when i tried different pills before but this suits me . with any type of birth control its a very indervidual thing though and different things suit different ppl .
if pain keeps up id get appointment with doc just to make sure no infection and everything is how it should be .just to keep your mind at rest .

I had one four years ago and it was great until I got this horrendous infection, which turned out the coils threads had come off and it had moved, so i had to get taken out! However im getting another one fitted on thursday, bit nervous after last time, but im sure al wil be good! |

What a relief to read the above!! I had one fitted 6 months ago and while my period has almost stopped (a major bonus and the reason I had it fitted) I’m still having some major cramping from time to time - comes from nowhere and often disappears just as quickly. A friend from work had one fitted a couple of months after and has had absolutely no problems what so ever so seams to be the luck of the draw.
Still I wouldn’t have it out and its solved a lot of the ongoing problems I had previously.

thats what i love about the forums and threads like this . you realise youre no the only person and stuff you go through is not that different from others .
for anyone getting one fitted soon .i was given a mild pain killer to take an hour before the fitting and it did help take edge off things .still bloody nippy for afew minutes but alot less painful than child birth lol !!
what all us gal go through huh !!!! guys have ney idea !! can u imagion any guy having anything threaded up his penis to stop conception!! lmfao !!! |

Just to add my two penneth..
I have had a coil fitted for a few years. Admittedly I was under a general anaesthetic when I had the first one fitted (for something else but had it fitted at same time) so couldn't say if the fitting was uncomfortable or not (when I had it replaced it was no worse than a smear). I Did have a few heavy bleeds for the first few weeks but then settled down to normal and now I barely have a period at all (bonus! ).
Only problem we have ever had was the strings (which aren't strings at all) were a bit long and my partner could feel them during deep penetration. Or to quote "that bloody things poking me in my japs-eye".
Everyone is different, but I would recommend. Doctors are far too quick to dish out the pill these days without explaining the alternatives.
There.. men can come back into the room now.. |

I guess they are different for everyone as I've had mine for four years now and never had a problem with it and can count on one hand the number of periods I've had in that time! Yes, when it was fitted and for the next week or so I had really bad cramps like the worse period pain ever but I think it was well worth it for the long term outcome for me.

im planning to get one of these fitted, as pills didnt work for me and i cant have the injection or implant.
was a bit wary of having it done but after reading on here, it seems the long term results outweigh the few bad things in the beginning lol
it cant be as bad as childbirth - thats what i keep telling myself haha ive done that three times and never want to do it again |
