arranged to meet someone
then ,,cant get there, OK i will pick up, cant afford baby sitter,ok..i'll cover it,then we would like a FEW drinks first, ...ok, then how do we get home IF we play ..ok i will cover a cab........NO wait im being made to look desperate here..

Does sound a bit like taking the pis to me. I once had someone stipulate that I picked them up and that I buy them a bottle of Southern Comfort, I think was nearly £25 when I looked in the Supermarket. I decided to pass on that, I don't mind getting a bottle of wine in but............. |

Id be uncomfy with money or things that needed covering being discussed.
Id see it as friends meeting who then might shag.
Ive never met so just guessing really.
As soon as someone said 'I'd need this covering or that' Id hopefully know her background enough to know if this was reasonable/genuine or wether she was pulling a fast one. If it was a single mum who you have spoken to for some time who genuinely couldn't afford a sitter then I suppose it's cheaper than going on the town and not necessarily pulling.
However as a couple that's ridiculous, I would never expect someone to cover our baby sitting costs. Nice to have a drink bought for us but never expected |

Sounds like they were looking for reasons why they won't meey you yet you were offering to pay to take those blocks out of the way. The way you have written it, all talk of you paying came from you.
Ok they could have declined but if you are desperate enough to pick someone up, pay for their child care, pay for a cab etc then more fool you. |

Some people believe they can get away with taking the piss with single men, and unfortunately the number you will obey far outweigh the ones that say no, so they will prob move onto to a less confident man |

That someone shouldn't have arranged to meet if couldn't get babysitter and/or have a way to get home. Not least because if you were a weirdo (not saying you are btw) surely it's a safety thing to have the means to get home  |

Not in this instance, but it does make me laugh, but a little angry, when you see women / couples asking for things like 'take me out tonight and you might get lucky ' or 'sugar daddy wanted to spoil me with nice things', it's just embarrassing adults say things like that....manipulation at best! |

I think the difference is offering and people expecting
i have a few times paid for hotel rooms by choise but if someone told me i had to pay id tell them to bugger off, when meeting for a drink i have no problem getting the drinks in but if i was told to i wouldn't |

A couple wanted to meet and we were skint. And did ask for them to bring the protection as I just didnt have the money for them.

Sounds like she's making excuses but wants to save her feelings.
For me, if I go to a meet it's no different to if I'm calling round to a friend's house. Generally I'm driving I don't offer to bring any drinks or anything round. I feel a bit tight now reading that some couples expect it as minimum.
Personally I think from the lady's safety point of _iew (I suppose different if meeting a couple) that I don't want her to think I'm trying to get her d*unk and take advantage!  |

I've had something similar where I was contacted by a female who insisted that the first meet would have to be at a hotel, which is fair enough. But she wanted £10 per hour for her babysitter and the babysitters taxi fare home on top. Her estimate was 4 hours plus £15 for the taxi, total £55 plus the hotel cost.
Tempted as I was at what return was on offer I'm just not that desperate and declined.

I met a woman who wanted a "gift" of underwear and a hotel paid for where her hubby and her could stay. She seemed a nice woman on the face if it but in the end she was manipulative and probably a ptofessional. Lesson learnt!  |

Fairly cheap cheap for three to four hours with a prostitute is she was a looker. Over ten years ago my ex was charging £350 for three hours. Either she drove herself to bookings, if she thought she might have a drink I drove. If the guy had a hotel that was down to him however we had a separate apartment that she could see punters at, no extra charge. We wouldn't ask for someone to pay for anything however from our perspective there is a different twist to this.
We get lots of mails from guys asking to meet Bev, we like to meet guys who can accommodate, however some either cant or don't live locally.
Our first reply is no wont meet for the above reasons, they then say what about hotel, our blunt answer to this is, we wont pay for hotels as we can meet guys at their home for nothing, so why would we pay to meet you.
if they then say they are willing to pay for hotel, we will let them as it's their choice and suggestion, but we never place further financial demands on them and never asked them to pay for hotel anyway, its their choice. Don't see anything wrong with this |

I work door to door so this sounds like objections to meeting and they're probably relieved now that you've given up. I wouldnt call it prositution seeing you offered to do these things for them and certainly wouldn't have offered to get a couple a child minder. |

only I was talking to a man on the phone I wasn't sure about him because he was foreign then he said he would bring me some cake so I thought that's nice of him, he bought me sherry instead which we both drank, then after he had gone my hubby said oh, no cake, was looking forward to that.  |

My thoughts on the OP? She didn't want to meet and was giving excuses that you were countering with offers to address. I don't know what this person looks like, but most people would have knocked it on the head after the first or second excuse.
That being said, the question of who is spending more or who is bringing gifts depends on circumstances.
I would never meet anyone who demands a gift as a condition of meeting.., unless of course you're Halle Berry, Marilyn Monroe & Whitney Houston (the resurrected), or a Nurse Gladys Emmanuel that appears through a time machine.
However there are situations when it is a nice-to-do, within reason, and when it isn't asked for.
If a couple invites me to their home for an all night meet, I'll take a bottle with me. Just as I would if a friend invites me for dinner at their home.
If I'm invited to a hotel room that has been paid for and we're having drinks at the bar first, I'll be happy to get a few rounds in.
As long as it is within reason and not beyond the bounds of piss taking, it's fine. |
