I've invested a lot of time and money in developing my beer belly - although strictly speaking not much beer was involved.
I've been a gourmand and bon vivant for many years and my body is testament to that...

I wouldn't put you as athletic I would put you as muscley. I like lean athletic guys but not big muscular guys as I find it slightly intimidating. In my opinion not sexy but that is my opinion just like others like cuddly guys like a friend of mine or like another friend skinny guys. But we don't all see things in the same lighg |

At a guess to draw attention to themselves. Sad thing is that these kind of posts tend to show people in a true light...Not a good one usually either. |

"For what it's worth - I love my belly.

Why do you love your belly?
I can only speak for myself but when I put on a bit of weight I was so uncomfortable sitting down that I simply had to get rid of it ASAP (which I did). I honestly can't understand how people let themselves get fat and then proceed to do nothing about it. I'm not trying to be a dick here - as I say, I can only draw on my own experiences and I literally can't understand how people live with it, especially when there are loads of averagely weighted/fit people around, I'd constantly be thinking "if they can do it, why can't i?"
Really sorry if this offends any one, it's a touchy subject but I don't mean to. |

I cant understand why people spend hours in the gym and then ingest all kinds of "supplements" in order to help their work out.
You see people are different. That is what makes them interesting. I dont really care what people think of me and if my "fatness" offends anyone then tough titty!
I reckon i hold my own against the average sized people in the meet stakes |

Thankfully I have never had a problem attracting people, even with a belly, a bald head, short legs and glasses.
I understand that I will never be to everyones taste and I am comfy with that.
The insecurities I had in my teens and 20's are long gone and I have become very happy with who and what I am.
As regards bellies, I have one (tho more to do with food and lack of exercise than beer) and whilst I don't find them sexy or attractive, I have met tens of people that do.
What 1 person finds ugly will be the fantasy for another.
It really is that simple.

Several reasons , maybe they think they are , maybe they are insecure and saying that they are makes them feel better , maybe so they get more people viewing their profile , maybe thats how they would like to be. I think people should be happy how they are , if not then they should do something about it.
i think a more interesting post would be why do 99.9 % of the guys on here claim to be the best thing since sliced bread and the fuck of a lifetime |

Agreed. I was simply saying my mind can't comprehend how people don't do anything about it. I've got mates and family members who are overweight, it doesn't affect how I think of people. If people are happy with it more power to them but part of your post does worry me. If people can't see the pros to being fit then I find that pretty worrying. |

I put on loads of weight since giving up smoking. I ought to do something about it and keep meaning to but never have the time or energy to go to the gym or indeed the motivation.

I'd sooner be fat than spend that long in a gym doing things I don't enjoy.
Plus 90 minutes a day IS a lot to some people who have jobs and families to look out for.
I was up at 5 this morning, on the road by 6 and got sat down back at home some time after 9pm.
That is quite regular. With a commute, my work day is around 12 hours then add family duties onto that ...
Fucked if am goin for a 90 min workout, mates or no mates.
Gimme the couch and some shite telly any day.
Horses for courses. |

I reckon i hold my own against the average sized people in the meet stakes
You can't understand why people would go to a gym to better their bodies and themselves? What's hard to understand about that? " Personally I'd like to argue that going to the gym would make you a better person...but that's just my humbe opinion |

"You can't understand why people would go to a gym to better their bodies and themselves? What's hard to understand about that?
Clearly quite a bit!
The point i am trying to make is that if you simply judge people in the wrapper you will miss out on all kinds of interesting times both in life and on this site.
Agreed. I was simply saying my mind can't comprehend how people don't do anything about it. I've got mates and family members who are overweight, it doesn't affect how I think of people. If people are happy with it more power to them but part of your post does worry me. If people can't see the pros to being fit then I find that pretty worrying.
It may surprise you to know I do go to the gym maybe twice a week mainly as we get a work discount - i bet i am the only gymist who listens to radio 4 on the treadmill!
I simply dont like spending lots of my time there and dont get those who do. It is SO boring!
Cardio is boring as shit for me. Weights aren't boring at all especially if you go with a mate. Hour and a half a day isn't much in the grand scheme of things.
" an hour and a half a day! You obviously don't have young children. The first time we get to spend any quality time together is about 8.30-9pm at night, the last thing we want to do is go to a gym. I the male am not athletic but carrying more weight than I want to. I want to lose weight and am trying to do so. It looks to me as all the uber athletic people/gym bunnies are child free or single so have the time and the disposable income to spend on going to a gym. We have neither so we have to try and do 5 mins exercise when we can. I suggest when you compare yourselves to other people also compare the life's that you lead. Bringing up kids is a 20hr a day job 7 days a week 352 days a year. You cannot ignore them for an hour and a half in their younger years just so you can go to the gym. And by the way we both work full time too. |

I think that its probably because of the categories available in fab. I also find it kind of ludicrous when body builders bitch about it when the are not what I call athletic you pose down to the gym lift big weights to bulk out and don't have the natural lean strength gained through normal life and if asked to run an easy mile become scared because all that bulkd muscle interfere with the blood flow required to run, so perhaps someone should ask "define athletic"
Yes I am now a fat bastard due to I'll health who as youngster could do the 4 minute mile used to run instead of waiting for a bus and tossed the caber in the highland games but always wanted to look bigger but because i was fit i couldn't put weight on or bulk out |

I would, he has a very good physique."
The OP does have what I would interpret as an athletic body, there aren't any sub-section options on Fab (ie "curvy" embraces many shapes). He's entitled to his own preference too, like any of us. |

I agree with the boring bit so we go walking every day. I didn't know there were so many rivers and green walks on my doorstep within walking distance (London born) Until my other half introduced me to them (Holland born).
Doing something that's fun and interesting makes keeping fit enjoyable. I'm enjoying my life I don't look down my nose at people who don't live their lives the way I do as some on this thread appear to. |

"For what it's worth - I love my belly.
And women find me cuddly. I like that too.

A lot of issues have popped up from this thread. I think i'll comment on them all!
Why do you think Athletic means flat stomach complete with abs? Have you seen the world's strongest man competitions?
We are all different shapes and sizes. Genetically, some people won't change. Their size was decided from birth. Yes, they can lose a couple of pounds here and there but that's all. For some people, the quest for a better body can lead to eating disorders or extreme training which can do more harm than good.
There's nothing wrong with being healthy and taking part in physical activities can help like cycling, walks with the family, group sports with friends. Gym is not for everyone. Some people don't have the time due to more important commitments (family, job, Fabs) Another reason is because they are intimidating places, thanks to some of the comments from people here. Attraction is not just what we see outside but what we see on the inside too.

its all a matter of perspective OP personally i wouldnt call you athletic I would call you muscular or well built, same as you say you "look after yourself" which is the evident that in gym way is obviously true, but some people wouldnt call defacing your body with tattoos looking after yourself, as i said its about perspective and each individual wikl have their own |

Weekends are for family, friends and relaxing.
I prefer to relax by having days out, spending time enjoying things with the people that are important.
You relax by going to the gym.
I have never been inside one.

Yes, it shows. I am comfy with that, just as you are comfy with a 90 mins a day in the gym.

Mr.
Ok not in anyway trying to brag
I have been running for almost 30 years, done loads of race's from
5ks upto ultra marathons
Many marathons, tons of long distance cycling event's, somewhere in the region of 100 triathlons Inc 5 ironman distance race's. Open water swimming event.
Training around 12-16 hrs a week on top of working full time.
All of this with a slight "beer belly " /tummy.
Weight around 85-90kgs
Athletic no,muscular and very fit yes.
So don't always judge a book by its cover
I have on many many occasions kicked the arse of skinny athletic
Guys
Anyway love you all. Xxxx |

It's not the first time in a number of threads this argument has been given. It's one I don't entirely agree with x
I'm sure most would agree , writing a well crafted message takes time . We are all entitled to our preferences and many of us would like to read a profile to gauge if a person falls into our preference. Surely it is not unreasonable to comment on wildly inaccurate descriptions as being a negative trait ? Despite some areas of grey it's not difficult to use the fab descriptions to honestly give a picture.if in doubt use curvy or fabulous deliberately misleading is living no differant to putting a pic up of a model or changing your age or living about height or cock size .The misdirection suggesting size and shape is only subjective is just that misdirection , just because areas of ambiguity exist does not mean we cannot objectively categorise a majority, men certainly more so than ladies
. Now that said it's not an issue to become irate over no more than a bald man who posts a pic with a full head of hair from 10 years ago. It's a humorous observation the op said nothing negative only when he comes accross a blatant misdescription he has a giggle ..I would have thought most of us at some stage have read , attractive, hot, slim, curvy, young, vwe then seen a pic and thought hmmmn |

"To the people who replied to me;
You can do a workout in 60 minutes or less tbf, I just do one and a half hours. My Mum and Dad worked full time and brought both me and my brother up and my Dad still had time to go to the gym 4/5 times a week. I notice how the serial excuse makers ignore weekends like they don't exist lol. You keep making those excuses and see where they get you
Weekends are for family, friends and relaxing.
I prefer to relax by having days out, spending time enjoying things with the people that are important.
You relax by going to the gym.
I have never been inside one.
I have no intention to ever go inside one.
Yes, it shows. I am comfy with that, just as you are comfy with a 90 mins a day in the gym.
Yes time is a factor, but moreover I just can't be arsed. There are other things that I'd much rather be doing.
Vive la difference !
Whilst that's absolutely fine and more power to you, you can do all of the things you've listed AND go to the gym or go for a run or whatever. They're not mutually exclusive events
When football season comes back around I'll be boozing it up with the best of them anyway. "
Probably
If I could be arsed |

Working out in this weather is tough, the heat saps your strength and energy incredibly fast. |

Yet oddly you have been verified by a couple who haven't been, were you desperate at the time |
