Non swinging friends talking about swinginging

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

We were in the company of friends having a few drinks and a good old chin wag, conversation turned from sex to swinging, we didn't bring it up, we both sat there looking interested but trying to act like we didn't know much about it.

It was quite amusing thinking "if only they knew"

Have others ever had this situation? Did you act dumb or confess to knowing a lot more about it than your friends imagined?

We've had this a few times - we find it so difficult to chime in with comments when people are coming out with the stereotypical "keys in a bowl" talk or, how could people do something so "dirty" !!!!

Talk about bite your lip !!

I went into work one Monday morning and was asked if I'd had a good weekend. They laughed when I said I had sex in a swing, I giggled all day

Not sure it's what you meant op but it's what sprung to mind to me

"Not swinginging!!!!! Doh,,, bloody iPhone "

I like that term. It's more modern.

When people bring things up I act slightly interested. Depends on who asks. With some mates, I'll say "ohhhh yeah I do all that and more" but in a kind of sarcy way so they think I'm joking.

We found that when we have "come out" with very trusted friends, we get inundated with questions... They want to know so much ...lol

Nobody said anything bad about it surprisingly, just "each to their own, if it works for a couple", they know we're a couple of dirty buggers so they probably wouldn't have been too shocked, but we'd never tell all the same.

We found that those that knew were very much (after the inquisition) "good luck to you". And when the subject comes up with non trusted people when with these friends, we find them looking at us, eyebrows raised ... Lol

It's come up in past and recent. After a few drinks I (Mrs) usually get a bit naughty and say things lol! The Mr is more open about it tho. Our friends are pretty good about it. They're proper nosey too but it's amusing to see eyes either roll or light up. Each to their own tho we're respectful either way to opinions. If you ask you'll get the honest answer lol!

If it comes up we always pretend to be ignorant, but interested of course! A couple of our best friends are Jehovah's Witnesses, not sure that they would be too impressed if they found out...although doubt they would be too surprised either

We've had responses varying from "you do what" to "no shit Sherlock, we have suspected".

Many of my friends are quite, how shall i put it? Quite 'vanilla' and naive when it comes to all this. For some of them, just talking about it gets them all a bit 'ooOoeer'.

And for them to get their head round swinging would be a bloody minefield lol. I like it when many say 'how can someone do that?' And you're say there thinking 'if only you knew what i get up to and what i shall be doing this weekend. You will have a heartattack'.

...then again. They all think i'm an angel anyway.Which, i am of course lol.

When we have had those conversation with close friends we normally end up telling them , and answering questions for the next hour lol , for some reason they never se surprised that we do ( and there was us thinking we purvey a air of sweet innocents ) I think most people we know would actually love to try this lifestyle but just don't have the confidence to.

The whole scene is far less of a 'subculture' than it used to be. However, you do have to really know your audience, especially if they're closet prudes.

We prefer to keep this side of our life in its own box and separate from all other aspects.

Also, the assumptions people make about those with a hobby like this is hilarious and disturbing.

The primary assumption is that you're predatory and will fuck anything. This is kind of the way homophobic straight men think about gay men incidentally.

Another assumption is that you're a kind of religious zealot and will seek to 'convert' non-swingers to being swingers.

The very worst assumption is that you're not suitable to 'have around' their children!

We had non-swinging friends find out and when we got past the twenty questions the female side of the couple came round , by herself, with an agenda we knew nothing about. Cutting the story short she wanted to get it on with us and he wanted to hear about it later.

Needless to say we declined and they were most put out.

"Well, thought you were supposed to be swingers!" Was the tone from then on.

Crazy isn't it

My very closest friends know that I swing and after various questions about safety (two of them I use as safety buddies so someone knows where I am) they all found it amusing and, though not for them, were not judgemental.

Those who are not in my 'inner circle' are people who think they know me but don't really. They all think I'm very innocent and somewhat naive.

Why hide it it's part of who you are and if your friends don't agree then they are not true friends - most of my friends are usually intrigued but do state it would not work for them but are happy that it makes me and my partner happy and that's all that matters but I certainly don't make an effort to hide it

Only one of our vanilla couples friends knows what we do. It's very sad really as the lady is desperate to get to a swingers club, she is very bi curious but the husband doesn't want to know, seems scared of the whole thing.....what a shame eh, never being able to fulfil your fantasies. Makes us feel lucky to be a part of this crazy scene

There have been conversations at work about sex and on occasion swinging and I just encourage the conversation gently along. No one has said they do it though.

A few close friends know....and it has got out at work so always good to raise a laugh. Two colleagues now also on site.... Oh and a customer! (Don't ask how that happened but yes I introduced her to fab!)

Best laugh in a similar vein was when a group of us had a pre party drink at a local pub. Joined at table by a vanilla pub goer who lived by me (we had briefly met once before in weather spoons).

She overheard our convo and knew we were having a party and about to depart soon.

She asked to share a cab home - we went in two cabs anyway. Then she kinda invited herself to the party!

Absolutely crapped herself when she found out we were all swingers - but she didn't leave till 10 the next morning!! Bloody hell she was good but not tempted her to join site yet.

Maybe they did know, had stumbled across your profile and were trying to manipulate the conversation. There is a decent possibility that might not be far off the truth.

Iv noticed more and more over the past two years, MORE and MORE people are talking about swinging.

Obviously i don't give anything up, i just act interested and curious! i always laugh to myself. I think its something that a lot of people WANT to do. But they really want to see other peoples reactions when its talked about.

I often say i would if S would... kinda throwing a curveball in just incase they think they know

First time this ever happened to me was with whole family at Christmas dinner of all places. Dad and stepmum decided they "didn't know any sex people".

I concentrated on my Brussel sprouts.

This has happened to us and we've kept very silent. Like others here, we've told some close friends and they also wanted to know all the details. We'll talk about the scene generally but we'll never give any details about what we actually do.

We confessed to our best friends during a drinking game of "I have never" which really didn't work in our favour because we had!

Needless to say they are curious as to what we get up to and often ask where we are going

Apart from them if the subject comes up with other friends we plead ignorance

It is a possibility but doubt it, the conversation evolved into the subject of swinging, it wasn't forced into that direction.

Quite a number of friends and relatives know I do, but to what extent varies from person to person. I operate different businesses in one business world quite a few people know, in another nearly everyone.Another one which is a radio station I do some work I think someone has guessed because they saw me with one of their presenters who they know is a TV swinger. I was getting her coat out my car for her which she'd left at my place after staying there Saturday night when I'd met her in the Village for the first time

"There have been conversations at work about sex and on occasion swinging and I just encourage the conversation gently along. No one has said they do it though. "

Same here. One of the technicians is convinced everyone on come dine with me is a swinger! I do have to giggle sometimes when sex comes up though as a lot seem to assume that I'm either almost a virgin or a whip wielding dominatrix...don't know how I've ended up at both ends of the scale like that!

I haven't told anyone I do this, although my profile was discovered where I used to work so it is possible a couple of friends know but haven't ever said anything as no-one from work said anything to me (except one fellow member) and she told me I was a regular topic of discussion with my veris providing the entertainment! I'd like to talk openly about it with a couple of my friends, but one basically called me a slut for having sex on the first date so not sure how she'd react to me being on here...and she wasn't meaning it to be cruel, just that she believes to get a man you have to make him wait a while, so she felt I was hindering my chances of finding 'the one'!

One downside of keeping this side quiet though is when you've had a weekend of fun and you're asked what you've got up to the answer is always 'just caught up with friends'...bet some people think I'm a right boring cow!

We were out with another couple last week who were commenting on how in love and affectionate hubby and I are, even after 10 years together. Half an hour later the conversation turned to how they thought swingers must be in loveless, sex less relationships, blah blah blah. We just sat there smirking lol

When I see couples that are really into each other and obviously still madly in love... I think they are swingers.

Had a really good friend talk about swinging a few years ago, kept our secret to ourselves for a while but eventually told her about it and that it was nothing like she had imagined.

Her and her hubby are now joining us on a club night, as we are best friends I doubt we will ever play together although we have in the past had a few close encounters!!

In answer to the first part 'fuck 'm,' in answer to the second part are you sure you would want a serious partner who wasn't into both of you playing?
