My archeology tutor reckoned that Neanderthals were still in existence (or at least those with Neanderthal heritage). Check out 2nd and 3rd toe, and if 3rd is slightly longer, that's a Neanderthal trait according to him...have also seen folk with slightly pronounced brow ridges and that's possibly another indicator  |

I asked my archaeology tutor about that because I thought that I saw Neanderthal type features in some people, low brow etc. I can't remember the details of her answer but it was basically that homo sapiens sapiens (us) and Neanderthals are both sub species of homo sapiens and their DNA diverged a long time ago. But as you know archaeology is far from an exact science so it could be possible.....its fascinating stuff isn't it. |
