Why can we not name and shame timewasters?

Spent yesterday messaging a guy and sorting a meet only for him to go deadly quiet an hour before. Usual story...

There should be a wall of shame

Two sides to every story, and his choice, there could of been a number of reasons, if you don't actually know him, you proberly could not guess.

This happens a lot on here and although its frustrating, I don't really see it as time wasting as you'd probably be on here chatting anyway. To me, a time waster is someone you arrange to meet, get the day off, sort child care etc then spend time getting ready, travel to the venue for them to no show. Some people get so bitter when you politely turn them down that if you had a name and shame it could be open to abuse from people like this who would report you for no reason other than to get back at you.

Ok fair point. And as for the other post it was a case of cancelling friends getting ready rushing around etc for dead silence.

Oh well move on... and all the folks that said they met us (in jest) we are happy to make the meets reality lol

You can't name and shame because it's wide open to abuse...

Lots of genuine people would leave the site if you opened that can of worms!

Sorry this happened op. So many people are all talk on here and I'd never change arrangements I already had for a meet. Hope you have better luck with your next meet.

Maybe rethink your process?

I always meet for a social first, you can both suss each other out and see whether you want to take it any further.

Never had anyone let me down.

To be fair, I'm more likely to be the 'timewaster' re cancellations but as I state in my profile, my children, family & friends will always come first.

Timewasting is when they don't turn up to a meet

sorry, that wasn't my intended inference, just that those kinds of previoys obligations help us to put the brakes on our enthusiasm for a meet and proceed more cautiously with arrangements, allowing our fantasist and dreamer filter to kick in...

I wasn't implying you were so apologies if it came across that way. I just feel there are so many who are all talk and let you down last minute that if I had plans with friends or family, I wouldn't cancel them for a possible meeting with a complete stranger from here. I have social meetings first so only need a free hour or so and if they no show its not really a problem.

Totally disagree timewasting is when someone wastes our time. And that includes messaging all day allow to get ready etc. Just because the meet stopped before the designated time does not mean time hadnt been wasted.

Anyway we are going off track.

There should be a process to name and shame. And it could be managed by fab.. maybe not in individual cases but if there was a timewaster report function that wasnt public. Names reported to fab who then check ip addresses check back through messages etc they coyld identify genuine fakes and time wasters and through ip addresses block them from the site

That function does exist, report the profile then block them. Problem solved.

Linwood

I'd give the person the benefit of the doubt as long as they gave me a bit of notice, hate it when someone calls it off within an hour, and especially last minute of when you arranged.

I always try to notify as soon as I can if I can't make arrangement.
