What do people think about scars? Would they put you off ? I've got a couple myself and just wondering what people think?

I have both legs pinned & plated from hip to knee. I was really depressed at the mess when it happened & a mate said to the immortal words "don't worry chicks dig scars"!

I am not sure if that is necessarily true but the reality is none have ever complained.

Of course it might have been different if the scars were across my face instead of my legs.

I was slashed in the face with a Stanley knife when I was 18 I don't even notice them now, they make me look like a bit of a thug but I'm not and people who meet me should be able to judge that for themselves

One of my buddies has a badly scarred stomach from an op. The first time we had sex he undressed, held his hands over them and looked at me with a pained expression. I have scars on my stomach, he said. So I took his hands away and kissed them. Some were quite near his groin too

I've got a lovely scar just above the knee when I dropped a still switched on angle grinder on it!! Blood everywhere! I must be more carefull. Could have been worse I guess. A bit higher up and game over.

I've got facial scars from an accident as a kid.

For years it bugged me, I would half turn my face away from people if I was talking to them, or look down, always ashamed of my scars.

It became a habit, until a teacher at school took an interest.

She told me that the turning of the face was all she noticed, the scars were "just part of me" and didnt need hiding.

It took a while, but I have been able to look at people full on since then, and most don't even notice the scars.

I have scars and I always tell people about them if they don't want to meet that's fine by me even though undies would cover them. I always ask how people got there scar usually an interesting story and if not so what. Sadly if a scar bothers them not worth it

I have no issue with scars, in fact I find them kinda fascinating and often can't help asking about them. Don't know why I feel the need, but for some reason I have to know the story behind them! I'd never push someone if they didn't want to say though. Guess I'm just a nosy cow at heart!

I have 2 'significant' scars. One on my knee and one on my stomach.

It's never occurred to me to mention them to anyone. The one on my stomach is from a life saving operation I had when I was just a few months old and has always been a part of me. The scar on my knee I got when I was about 6, it doesn't stop me wearing skirts or anything even though it covers my whole knee.

I did have scars on my face from an attack at school when I was about 13, but looking now they have all but disappeared.

I don't think scars would put me off meeting someone, but then I think it depends on the severity and the nature of the scars. For example burn scars do freak me out a little. If someone had a large area of burn scar tissue it might put me off. Otherwise I doubt it would.

As a previous poster said, scars are a map of your life-wear with pride!

I have a hip replacement scar and although I worried about it initially, I barely even think about it now as it has healed really well...still noticeable but I really do forget about it. I would say I'd be more bothered if I had facial scarring but hopefully not enough to dent my confidence too much

Iv got a several pretty noticeable scars across my forehead. Never did me any harm off fab, to some it makes me look tough or there's a mysterious story attached to them but the truth is I'm not tough or mysterious. I got them from an accident when I was a kid

I've got a scar that runs through my eyebrow and down past the corner of my eye was horrified when I did it but now I'm a little sad it's fading lol a past fb used to find it a real turn on and I've got a couple of forehead knicks from when I used to box. But I must say the looks I got walking round tesco with 13 stitches down my face was quite comical

"N" has abdominal scars through surgery.

His biggest problem (for him) is that through medication he lost two front/side teeth and the gap shows, this has seriously effected him but dental treatment later this year should fix that.

LONDON (se)

I have a scar on my face from being attacked by a dog when I was 14. I had a hole in my face and had reconstruction surgery on my face twice. It was hell and I felt terribly ugly for years. Most people don't notice it but it still taunts me and is the first thing I see every time I look in the mirror. I used to spend a lot of money on camouflage makeup but now I just wear regular foundation.

I only left the house for the first time without makeup on about 3 years ago

It depends on the scar and who is looking at them. I have had about 30 fractures over the years and have several replaced joints. I went home with a girl once who threw up on me when she saw them. People often say they like scars but after the interest and novelty has worn off they usually don't.
