I think they look a little silly when you see people using them in public. But untill the health benefits are researched more we won't no how safe or not they are.

I think any bad press is probably sour grapes on the part of a complacent tobacco industry who wish they'd jumped on this particular bandwagon sooner.

Yeah they will lose on taxes but I guess in theory save on the NHS?

I find it hard to believe that they are completely unchecked...otherwise they could be full of crack cocaine ! im sure it would have been discovered if they were

Something like half of smokers die for reasons linked to their smoking. So unless e-Cigs are REALLY bad then they must be better for you than tobacco. Not a very scientific look at it but most smokers want to stop and it's a stepping stone.

They will likely be on prescription only after 2016 and tobacco licencing will change too.

Apparently the tax revenue from smokers exceeds the cost of their treatment. Plus they die earlier so you don't have to pay their pensions or treat them for other illnesses when they get very old. It's a win for the treasury in a cold way.

You might be right but a lot of people buy cheap fags that don't have any tax on them.

or is it ...the revenue generated from taxation on tobacco and cigarettes is a big void that will need filling ...i could be wrong but i do believe it was the biggest tax gain in the pot until recently

Very true. There's a massive black market.

The will be licensed after 2016 but will be available over the counter in the same way Paracetamol is. The licensing is to ensure they contain what they say they contain.

I started using them last year but found they were costing me more than smoking so i went back to smoking... This time round ive been on them for 6 weeks and have found a cheaper option and have no need to smoke.

Yes im still addicted to nicotine but i dont see them as any different to using patches or the inhalers certain brands make to aid smoking cessation.

My plan is to reduce the nicotine content as i use them so eventually ill be nicotine free and its only the actual habit i need to break.

A great idea if they stop people smoking and don't just become a long term replacement they smell far better for a start though.

We both use them. Neither of us has hit a regular cig in two years. We love them. Hope to quit those too. Good luck.
