Not being able to accept you are a post pubescent woman may contribute to the need to remove any signs of the menarche. the removal of pubic hair, underarm hair etc may be an indication there is a conflict regarding sexuality, wanting to remain in a child like state to be cared for and looked after. Because of the damage done to the skin by shaving, the incidence of staph skin infections amongst women who shave their pubic hair is far higher, far more abscesses, boils and other skin infections. Pubic hair is put there by nature to protect against infection as well as absorb otherwise skin damaging sweat and moisture. In my experience in working in women's health for thirty years, nature usually gets it right and when we rebel against nature that's when we get problems |

I would say that the main reason for the pubic hair is to absorb and keep for longer the body smell coming from the tissue fluids. This increases the chance of attracting the opposite sex.
Eyebrows are protection from sweat for the eyes - no question about it, but pubic hair, please no.
Mother Nature cares more about reproduction of the species than anything else.  |

I take it that goes for armpits and legs too?
I don't shave my pubic area for fashion or for cleanliness - I know a clean woman is a clean woman, hairy or not. I do it because I prefer how it feels.

How refreshing. As a woman I feel it is completely natural to have hair. Shaved seems to be all the rage, but for me it seems prepubescent. I must admit that I have tried it, but the bristles and itching on regrowth, which seems to start within an hour of shaving, is a complete irritation. I promised myself that I would never shave again, and I haven't. |

For me well trimmed pubic hair with sexy shape is best. Could be like:
- bikini style; or
- landing strip; or
- heart; or
- crown; or
- the letter V etc.
Of course should be no hair whatsoever around labia/lips, clitoris and anal area. And better to be removed by waxing/epilator than just shaving as the latter, no matter how close is done still acts like a bristle brush on the face, lips.

Sure there is some truth for some but equally sure other researchers will come to different conclusions, the 500 different directives on coffee and it's health/lack of health benefits based on research are reason enough for me to take an expert view with a large pinch of salt (Ewwww evil salt)
For most the reason given seems nothing to do with attachment to childhood (although granted people may not admit this) and everything to do with feeling clean. Same reason almost all women do remove leg and underarm hair.
I simply don't like pubic hair and never have. I removed it as soon as it started growing and in 1986 at 13 years old this definitely was not the fashion!
I like how pubic hair looks in film but for real life I love the smooth very close contact that you simply don't get with pubic hair. I don't like it in my teeth or up my nose. I have grown it and I personally neither liked how it felt or felt as clean.
Plus my pubic hair is dark blonde and probably looks even more childlike having yellow candyfloss than no hair at all!

I think at least leave a bit of hair. Be it a landing strip or just trimmed. Women are also having designer vaginas. It wierds me out that the trend these days seems to be shave it all off and accompany it with an underdeveloped looking labia. I know what that look reminds me of. I think we all do. And that is messed up. |
