What makes a guy, women or couple, Professional?
You see it so many times on folks profiles. "looking for a professional guy" etc etc
Professional in my eyes is getting paid! |

"Core definition
A profession is a group of people in a learned occupation, the members of which agree to abide by specified rules of conduct when practicing the profession.
Explanatory context
There are many professions and they are controlled to varying degrees by professional, regulatory or governmental bodies. Typical professions are medicine, dentistry, law, engineering, architecture, social work, nursing, accountancy. Most definitions of profession identify ‘working for the public good’ as among the characteristics of the profession. "
But most people ignore what it means and think being paid is enough to call themselves 'professionals'

Jesus .... here we go with this chestnut again. Get off ya boxes all you inverted snobs! Typical British sneer at anything. It isn't being authoratative to say you are a professional. People say they are many things on here. I'd feel easier with someone who says they are professional than someone who says they are 'genuine' , 'honest' , 'sexy' , 'good looking' ..... What's the problem ? Don't tell me what they MEAN by it .....or what THEY are THINKING. You can't possibly know and just show your own biases.... pfffft !
xx love gran xx |

I do agree with ya there, but hey... the word professional does have a nice mental image attatched. Theres something very alluring about a business person in a suit... you get a lot of mystery trying to work out just what sort of person they are underneath it all |

I couldn't have put it better myself!!
Why people feel the need to criticise the profile of others is beyond me. People have preferences, you can put whatever your hearts desires on your profile...allow others to do the same!!

... and what if they really mean they are "professional" at swinging, i.e. experts at oral, advanced at anal,
carnal connoisseurs and cunning linguists.
Seriously? "Professional" means nothing to us. It is irrelevant as we don't seek their advice on plumbing, building, tax matters etc. All we want is nice sexy people with a bit of wit and humour and for that they need no qualifications - just a nice honest personality xx |

a very plush appartment off junt 7 M5 |
I have to say that I like prof on a profile
because to me it implies a man in a shirt and I adore a man in a shirt
I know that in general he wont faint at the thought of paying for a glass of wine/dinner and would not usually expect me to suck him off in the back of his cab
but that is in general |

Surely, professional means someone who is not a manual worker. That doesn't mean people who work with their hands are uneducated.
It's really about whether someone has style and class. Not necessarily social class as in Working Class, Middle Class or Upper Class. Just someone who can hold a conversation about more than football or the X Factor.
There's a great Alex cartoon. They are at Glyndebourne to watch Die Zauberflöte and Alex says to a wideboy trader in a Dinner Jacket, "I love the Magic Flute Mike", who replies "Yes Alex, I bought it special..."

If a professional is someone who doesn't work with his or her hands, then a surgeon isn't professional!
And any accent can be put on if you write in Word, then copy and paste. |

Oh thanks that is a great suggestion - had not thought of that.
But I think you can also do it in the way the previous poster suggested? |

Good question, to which i have no idea to the answer lol
I think to a lot professional is a qualified job, ie they dont want some 'thicko' who just sit behind a till at asda lol
I did once get turned down by someone because of my job, was many years ago, i was working in a care home, had chatted in the chat room, had spoken on msn, had spoken on the phone, all seemed well then i was asked what my job was, i replied i worked in a care home and they said "oh a nurse, thats a good job?" etc etc or words along them lines, so i said no and that i was just a care worker, all went quiet then they came back with "im sorry but your not really for us we're professional people and looking for the same"

"Not again!
If you do a search, you'll find a few threads on the subject! "
Maybe you need to be a professional to search for it.
Its a load of stuck up nonsense all this professional crap.
