Come in handy if you have any dangerous tree limbs or a tatty drive bit like dating a girl whose father owns a brewery when you fancy a beer

There's two gypsy girls on here that I know of. And yes, they're no different to regular girls funnily enough.

Bloody good between the sheets too. Though to be fair two is probably a bit of a small survey group, so I couldn't make any generally sweeping assumptions to it being down to their heritage or upbringing!

I agree! Some people seem to think they own the right to decide how often a topic can be brought up. I have opened new topics having not been aware there was already one on the same subject recently. I simply missed it, but I wouldn't have wanted someone to scold me for it!

I dated one briefly, she didnt say she was or wasnt but my suspicions grew.

She intimidated me, I didnt shag her though as I knew it was about to stop, before it had even started. So I stopped it and went quiet on her, she got the idea and left me alone.

I have bumped into her since which was akward, she was just far too aggressive for me

The majority probably do. Though I've met some that were proud to call themselves gypsies too.

Perhaps it differs with the Irish or Romany ancestry, though that would only be a guess from experience rather than any concrete knowledge.

I can only guess that much like the rest of humanity different cultures have different views really.

Tone is not good. Would people think they can get away with talking about black people for example in same way.

One piece of advice I'd give is never refer to them as gypsies to their faces, they take is as a racial insult.

"One piece of advice I'd give is never refer to them as gypsies to their faces, they take is as a racial insult. "

Nah, I wouldn't make that mistake as Id have no way of knowing if they took it as an insult or used it as a general term regularly. Id wait till they used it in conversation first so I knew how they felt beforehand.

I agree! I come from a family of Romanian gypsies, my dad's, is the first generation who don't travel and live in houses. I'm pretty sure they'd all be pretty offended reading this!

Without causing a stir or any further offence, do you know if they look down on country folk like ourselves or even have other names for us. (the name Im thinking of currently escapes me).

The ones I know don't have a problem with 'gypsy' but for christ sake don't change that to 'gypo'.

For the record, in all my times doing business with them I have never encountered one single problem with them and wish all my customers were like them.

Me and a mate once chatted up a couple of traveller girls at a visiting fair. Had a laugh, went for a drink afterwards. When we got back to the fairground and where the caravans where, there was a reception committee waiting for us. The girls said we'd done nothing, which we hadn't, and to leave us alone. After a few verbals my mate and I left. Stupidly the next night he went back, he said he wasn't scared of them. I wasn't but didn't fancy another 'meeting' with the blokes. I got a phone call at home during the night from my mate's brother, asking me to go to the local hospital as mate was in there.

He'd decided to 'front-up' some of the traveller guys and came worst off. A broken jaw, several lost teeth, broken arm, severe bruising all over where he'd been kicked and punched. He made the mistake of saying he was back to take the girls out again and have his way with them if he wanted to.

Yep, total idiot he was. Needless to say we never went to any travelling fair again!

There's a bit more detail in the Daily Mail, but basically the story is he slept with a traveller girl and the male relatives cut it off

Some do! Some gypsies are horrible people! Just like some country people are! But the majority of the gypsies I've come across are lovely, decent people with very good values and morals. As per, it's a small minority that give a large group a bad name!

Calling a gypsy/traveller a gypo is like calling a black guy the N word!
