Should this be compulsory for all members new and old?

Thoughts please....

Maybe it could get rid of some or most of the fakes

Think it should be compulsory, for sure it wouldn't out all the fakes or people not interested in meeting, but it would get rid of a few and stop others in joining.

"They don't prove anything,Anyone could fake them

Why would a profile with multiple verifications need (or want) photo verification?

Seems pointless if people have met face to face!

And given the number of profiles found using web pics that are both photo AND meet verified - the best solution to fakes/timewasters is, and always will be common sense, sensible approaches to engaging with others and a sense of realism!

Read this!! Note the word 'OR'.

A great way to prove you're genuine.

1: Hand write FabSwingers and your username on a piece of paper

2: Photograph yourselves holding the paper (your hands must be visible) (photo should show your faces OR full length nude if you want to hide your face).

3: Upload using this link. Photo is 100% private. (If emailing in, use subject "verification").

We check the verification photo matches your photos and account (if a couple we need to see you both). Once approved your profile will show as "photo-verified" .

Just because they're verified to meet doesn't mean they'll meet you. It's a very fine line between wanting to meet people and expecting people to meet simply because they're here. People have their individual pace when it comes to this site and it should be respected.

Use the filters that are there for you to prevent you getting contact from unverifieds etc.

The site works for those that use it properly.

the photo verification won't actually guarantee that the profile pic they are using is genuine. it only verifies that the account genuinely belongs to a man, woman, couple.i personally met a couple of people for coffee who's profile pic was..... shall we say...dated. there really isn't any way other than a face to face meeting to guarantee that pics are genuine.

Not negative at all...in fact my post is positive... I'm positive it won't make much difference, we don't seem to have the problems people complain about and if our verifications by meet aren't a good enough indicator that we are genuinely who we say we are and genuinely meet then how being photo verified will help, I don't know...Fab works very well for us the way it is because we use the tools provided to us by the site well...

So do you have to do this even if you are verified by meeting a real person, I would leave if it was compulsory, I hate petty rules, and it wouldn't change anything anyway.

Meet and/or cam verifications are to easy to fake in order to appear genuine.

Surely adding the photo veri process to membership will help reduce the HUGE amount of fakes on here.

This!

The site is nothing more than a means of browsing, chatting and looking to meet.

It owes nobody meets, isn't responsible for hand holding or managing (often unrealistic) expectations.

There are many sure users who use the tools available, meet regularly - and seem to have no issue with all these fakes and timewasters people are constantly bemoaning.

Quite how people so often get duped or led on is beyond me. You'd think after it happening once or twice people would change their methods of selection and the ways they approach and react to others.

But sadly, I guess not!

It used to be a face you needed to show but they changed it a long while ago and you could have a body shot if you wanted without the face.

i disagree that facepics should be compulsory. many don't have them on the profile, myself included, because they are being discrete for their often reasons. many genuine people would leave rather than compromise their ability to be discrete.... and fakers would still find a way to fake.

I'm not fake. I'm not photo verified because I don't want to be. If the site were to make it compulsory, I'd leave.

It's that simple.

I don't think it would deter the fakes either. Loads of fakes are photo verified.

The best defence against fakes is a good selection process.

It would drive a lot of genuine people away and wouldn't deter fakes.

The only reason I can see to get photo verified is if you can't get verified by meeting. Just because someone's been photo verified doesn't mean they will actually meet. You can usually tell if someone is genuine very quickly so why worry?

And if you want to check what they look like, ask for a quick chat on cam. Some won't do that but most will.

Also if people havent had any meets in a certain amount of time they should be kicked"

verifications would be policed how, exactly? I've had meets that haven't verified, and meets that have. how, then, would one determine when someone should be 'kicked' ?

You may be entirely happy with there being a photo of your face with a sign saying your username and fabswingers.com out there on the Internet but a lot of people won't be.

Once that photo is sent to anyone else, it's completely out of your control. Sites can be hacked, computer equipment can be stolen, backups can be lost...

A lot of people on here would not want that photo out there.

Plus some just play on cam and never meet, which is perfectly valid.

When you get photo verified know one sees that pic apart from fab ,even ppl who want to be discreet on here have to upload a face pic at some point to send to the person there chatting to ,now think about this for a moment ,if fab changed it to were everyone had to be photo verified and im talking about a face pic only wile holding a sign up saying your username so fab knows this is your account ,now theres no way you could upload a different face pic because fab would know about it and not approve it ,so when you ask to see a face pic of someone and they send it to you ,you will know its really them

When are these fakes going to realise they won't get anything by lying.

I do feel for the single ladies especially newbies.

I have been on the other end of fake profiles, not funny if your not clued up.

Hiding and lying about things is beyond me, makes it harder for single ladies and men and couples ect.

But I can't see a photo veri abolishing that.

In that case those photos are available not only to the admins but to every picture mod. And if one photo mod happens to leave their computer or 'phone logged on, others could get access.

And some people do not have any face photos on fab at all.

If you want to check someone looks like their photo ask them for a quick cam chat.

"I might have read it wrong, but can't you get a veri just by being naked and holding a piece of paper over your face, as for veri in person, two accounts

You have to show your face when getting photo verified

No you don't.

Read the site FAQs "

Mine was refused initially as I didn't show my face. Think it's like all things to do with admin, depends who you get.

I can absolutely see why some people wouldn't want a photo of their face, their username and the site address out there.

Even if it's a small chance that anything bad could result from it, why take the chance?

Government departments can lose secure data, for goodness sake, and the protocols and procedures in place to protect that should be superior to the practices wherever the Fab servers are located.

And that's another potential problem. The people who run and maintain the servers may well also have access to the photos. There's no way for us to know for sure.

Which is why I'll never ever get photo verified and never send face pics via this site

I can see no need at all for people to be PV, I've never looked to see if any of the people I'm planning on meeting are PV.

People's friends and family know they are on Facebook, usually! I doubt many advertise to them that they are on here! It's not the same thing at all.

Facebook = public life

Fab = private life, that most would prefer remained private!

Why do people think that someone uploading a face pic is going to be the answer to all their 'problems' ?

It isn't.

It won't get you more meets.

It won't stop potential timewasters. (Who are easy to ignore/avoid)

It won't change the way most people use the site.

Getting hung up so much on one little feature of the site is pointless! It's not a magic wand.

it is what it is.... there is a risk everytime you load pics on the internet. If the risk is too great, don't do it.

I personally think there should be more transparency on who actually has access to my pics/messages if they are private and what is the governance around monitoring their integrity. But that won't happen so it is a case of upload and you accept the risk.

again, it is what it is.

Just another group of people trying to dictate how everyone else should use the site.

Because a few are happy to be photo verified and accept (or don't understand) any potential risks, they think it's ok to dictate everyone else do the same. Out of order.

Exactly. So I'm happy to have watermarked photos here because my face photos aren't public and I have plausible deniability.

I can't deny holding the piece of paper, if that photo ever came out so I won't take one or upload one to the Internet.

I considered the potential risk of each and made my decision as EVERY member of fab should be entitled to do.

"When you get photo verified know one sees that pic apart from fab ,even ppl who want to be discreet on here have to upload a face pic at some point to send to the person there chatting to ,now think about this for a moment ,if fab changed it to were everyone had to be photo verified and im talking about a face pic only wile holding a sign up saying your username so fab knows this is your account ,now theres no way you could upload a different face pic because fab would know about it and not approve it ,so when you ask to see a face pic of someone and they send it to you ,you will know its really them

I repeat... once that photo is sent, it is out of your control. Sites can be hacked, computer equipment can be stolen, backups can be lost...

Plus, thousands upon thousands of photos are uploaded to fab. Does it really sound practical to you that every single one is checked against a verification photo? In that case those photos are available not only to the admins but to every picture mod. And if one photo mod happens to leave their computer or 'phone logged on, others could get access.

And some people do not have any face photos on fab at all.

If you want to check someone looks like their photo ask them for a quick cam chat.

Clck on one of your photos now and what does it say at the bottom of it? At the end of the day thats the risk we take when uploading pics on the internet ,were taking a risk uploading pics on any social network sites

A photo verified pic is no safer than your FB profile pic ,its just the risk we take

A

No one has said its going to answer the problem ,were saying it could help with the problem "

The 'problem' is often not the easily spotted fake profiles - it's those too driven by the horn to use common sense and simple actions to avoid getting sucked in.

As big a 'problem' as fakes are - the reason they're still around is because so many are too stupid and careless to take simple precautions!

This is not "any social network site". The press have no interest in outing facebook users.

It's a bit easier to claim someone else put my photo on the site or added the watermark than it is to claim it's not actually me holding a piece of paper with the username and site address on!

It seems to me you haven't really thought this through.

The pics on your profile say fab swingers .com is that not bad enough then ,i think your making a mountain of a mole hill

You aren't getting it.

Anyone could put my pic on here. Anyone could add the text at the bottom. Nobody can prove I did it or knew about it.

Holding a piece of paper saying a username and fabswingers.com is not something I could deny knowing anything about, if I needed to!

The two things are totally different.

It's not making a mountain out of a molehill at all. You haven't considered the difference between the two things and the potential effect it could have on people.

Well either way something has to be done about it weather its photo verifying or becoming a site were you have to pay to join or something else "

Why? Because you say so?

Plenty of people are perfectly happy with this site the way it is.

If you are having a lot of problems with fakes or timewasters, maybe you need to learn to spot them better and learn how to make better choices about meets.

In your bed

You csn never get rid of fakes.

Like in any other line of business there will be those who find a way around the rules.

It's just a natural hazard.

Just another group of people trying to dictate how everyone else should use the site.

Because a few are happy to be photo verified and accept (or don't understand) any potential risks, they think it's ok to dictate everyone else do the same. Out of order."

You clearly do give a toss how others use the site since you think everyone should be forced to photo verify themselves. That's not giving them the choice, is it?!

Not necessarily.

"Something has to be done" is not quite the same as saying "in my opinion something needs to be done/should be done".

I think you need to think about what some of the other posters have written and consider why you seem to think fakes are so much more of a serious problem than many others do, and whether there isn't something you could do about it, without expecting the site to address it and impose change on everyone.

Well what you do on this site and how you use this site is up to you, im not telling you how to use it ,im just coming up with ideas on how to eradicate the fakes ,like i said before im on the forums giving my opinion im not saying its the rite or wrong solution im just giving my opinion

If i was ranting i would would of been the one posting the question

Not necessarily.

"Something has to be done" is not quite the same as saying "in my opinion something needs to be done/should be done".

I think you need to think about what some of the other posters have written and consider why you seem to think fakes are so much more of a serious problem than many others do, and whether there isn't something you could do about it, without expecting the site to address it and impose change on everyone."

How is it not the same? Something does have to be done and thats a fact probably fab will tell you that them self ,its been an issue from day one and in my opinion if you asked 90% of the people on here they would tell you there main concern on here is the fakes and time wasters and with that with that comes opinions on how to solve the problem

Well im pretty sure most people who have commented on this post think fakes are a problem or other wise they wouldn't of commented so people like the OP have give an opinion

"You csn never get rid of fakes.

Like in any other line of business there will be those who find a way around the rules.

It's just a natural hazard."

Ok I think this is going round in circles now.

The best thing to do is use your filters to filter out who you don't want mail from
