when lying isnt lying ?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Just had a message from a guy . His profile age states 39, in his profile he says 42 and in the message he says he's 53. When I politely declined because of the lies (and wondering what else he was lying about ) he said he wasn't lying !

So when does lying not become lying ?

loads of people lie about their age on here and think nothing of it. I don't understand why because its usually immediately obvious and they give themselves away in conversation, our favourite was the man who would have been about 9 when he went on his first lads holiday to Ibiza if his claimed age was correct

How many of the 'single' can accomodate turn into married can't accomodate. I met a guy who.s profile said he was 42 he turned out to be 55 and his photo must have been 20 years out of date. no second meet for him. and what about the couples who are really single guys. need i say more

Brighton - even Hove!

I'm 43 but I can have meaningful conversations with people loads older cos I'm fond of social history, am extensively read and have watched lots of television for years so know a fair bit about things that happened donkeys years ago. See? I can even talk older I'd give ten bob to someone who thought I was younger though!

thing is young people tell fibs, you get annoyed, but when old people tell lies you just think, grow up.

When it's yourself that's talking. In which case it's just "not selling yourself short"...

Wow, that's weird. I guess technically, he's not lying...he is currently 53, but at one point he was 42, and before that, he was 39.

Seriously though, that's a horrible first impression.

The greatest advantage of speaking the truth is you don't have to remember what you have said

Everyone lies everyday, even to themselves, it is a human trait. Where it is wrong is where someone is being abusive. If someone skirts round an issue to prevent hurt, then that is a sensitive move. It is all about someone's objectives.

Best one I heard was a lady friend of mine agreed to meet a guy, when he turned up he wasn't even the same race as his picture. His response was that he couldn't get any meets if he put his actual face picture up.

Lying about age on profile is probably due trying to get around age range filters. Ot is still an act of deception... Hate it!

this line always makes me laugh

slight difference between "oh i haven't had a chocolate biscuit"... and "oh I am 15 years older than I said"..... or the one you always mention....

unless they all count the same now?

There is not a cut off point for when an untruth is not a lie. But yes, there are degrees of lying.

lying about your age, is one thing but some people on here lie about everything. pretending they have met me before, contacting me on another profile because i have blocked them.

and lots of other things, they must think i was born yesterday.

hiding from cock pics.

There's some really amazing ones, when someone tells the same lie to themselves and sometimes others about some situation or something they did that they end up believing their own lies and thinking that's the truth.

Like a denial thing or way to justify themselves.

In the end they are convinced that they are speaking the truth.

When were you born then? And don't lie! I liked Dora Bryan in a taste of honey. Good film.
