What are your opinions on profiles which contain a list of negatives and/or rants about what or who they do not want to see or hear from?

From my perspective it is understandable but a huge turn-off as aggression is seldom sexy and it is hard to rant and not appear aggressive.

Given that the subject of most negative comments and rants is people who do not read profiles anyway, do those people who's profiles contain such, do they notice a reduction in unwanted attention?

This itself is not a rant, I'm very curious to see the effect it has.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

It's very rare single male profiles have a long list of 'not wanted' (although I have seen it now and then), but usually that sort of profile will put me off. In fact, a grumpy status can be enough to put me off.

they attract the people they most want to avoid...

but hey, they may not have the subject matter for a ranty thread then

Only a negative effect, I should imagine. Unless the pics are hot, in which case they'll be messaged to oblivion, regardless

some of them i have looked at would put me off, they sound grumpy, aggresive and much too serious.

they still have verifications though.

so some people arent bothered by it.

Not only negative profiles but if we look regularly on our home page and see local profiles with negative statuses appearing regularly that would put us of meeting people.

Shouty aggressive and ranty profiles put me right off, they're mostly aimed at people who don't read profiles which is pointless as those people won't read them, those that do read profiles will likely run a mile

Speaking from a male perspective - profiles should 'sell' you: introduce yourself, say what you like, give an impression of your personality, don;t boast, say what you can offer (remember - no boasting).

If there are any 'special' things you think should be mentioned - mention it. If it's relevant.

I mean - I like Marmite - but it's unlikely to be relevant - unless it's a real fetish.

I find them so off putting. I am here for fun, I will not be everyone's cup of tea but for those who are interested why judge them before you have even said hi?

Emotional rubbish maybe?

I've blocked men from my local update page for continuous moaning and rude statuses. The worst one ever was a few years ago where a man was saying he was after a meet 'but no pigs' Instant block!

This is very true and I've seen evidence if it. It's the same old story if you are much in demand you can make demands.
