Yes a lot of people are getting them but there is a diffeance between someone with a tattoo and someone who is heavily tattooed I don't mean someone with a rose on there hip. |

To have tattoos these days is not being alternative its purely following the masses(every man and his dog now sports them) and they make women look rough |

A hidden rose on a hip may be attractive and discreet whereas colouring yourself in an arm and a leg at a time seems foolish for what is this years fad! |

I listed tattoos and alternative as separate I do not mean people who have tattoos are alternative.
Please realise this and no everyone say the same thing about tattoos. |

The other good thing about ink is that apparently it acts as an effecive if unintentional filter |

I've had mine a lot longer than a year. I didn't even realise they had become a fad. Mine are on my pics; its a great filter

extremely shortsighted and completely wrong.
with anything it can look bad, personally, i hate women that look like jotting pads and have little tattoos everywhere, whereas to me, a full or half sleeve on a woman, in a lovely dress and a pair of heels, well thats just very very sexy.
there are plenty of people around that look rough without seeing a tattooist. |

but then, you see people banging on about oral
anal
children
schools
politics
and so on and so forth
people talk about what interests them.
i could wax lyrical about custom bikes all day every day, because thats what i like and am into, but i very much doubt many people on here give 2 hoots.
tattoos are a personal thing and can be a turn on, or off for people, so those that post up about them, are generally gauging those they can message, and probably do. |

I agree, I've got tattoos and I like rock music and I have ever changing crazy hair!! But I wouldn't say I'm 'alternative' surely labelling yourself is making you NOT alternative?? Does that make sense??!! Haha!! |

Really love alternative women with tattoos also. I find them mysterious and sexy. However, I do find most go for the skinny bean pole or rocker look so I luck out.
I agree everyone is getting tattoos! They need to be an expression of your personality. Tasteful and unique. |

When I say alternative I am going by the typical meaning of you prefer an alternative scene over what is considered normal so you liking a rock scene I'd class as alternative.
Saying alternative about a persons personality and lifestyle is so diverse couldn't ask a simple question about it I should of made that more clear! |

but you have bands like kings of leon and so on getting to number 1.
how is rock anymore alternative that hip hop or rap?
see what i mean by not counting ourselves as alternative?
we dont live a 'lifestyle' directed by our musical tatses.
yes i have long hair
no i dont wear blue denims and a black t shirt all the time
yes i listen to rock
but i also listen to pop, dance and talk radio, and so on.
yes i have tattoos, but they dont define me. they certainly dont tell people who i am, although the do belay a scholastic background, but meh, each to their own |

You've made it quite clear that you don't like tattoos, and although we have them we respect your opinion, but don't you think your going slightly over the top on this thread?
There's a simple solution on this site, it's called delete and block. You can do this to all of the tattooed people who keep "banging on" about their tats |

Perhaps it's a form of colouring in? I prefer to call it art, unless of course it's the love hate kind off tattoo!! Hmm. I am perfectly happy with what I am, and how I look, but it's nice to enhance, some do it with jewellery, I choose to do it with tasteful tattoos. But as has been said sooo many times each to their own. That's just my opinion. |

I have random tattoos. Some might think they look like doodles but each one means something to me and are a marker of a time in my life, a memory. I also have a couple of piercings-which are not memories I just like em. And I have unusual coloured hair. Never had any complaints! Love tattoos on men. Not a fan of stretched piercings though. |

"To have tattoos these days is not being alternative its purely following the masses(every man and his dog now sports them) and they make women look rough
i doubt anybody seeing me would think i look rough and definately not cos of my tattoos" I would not refer to you as a rough looking woman, having studied your fine pics I cannot even see a tattoo on your arms legs or body!
What im referring too is people who have full arms done with that many tattoos on their arm just looks like a large black stain or massive parts of their body etc,We were purely offering our opinion and we would not meet people who feel the need to as we see it colour themselves in for a hobby.
A lad at work had a piece as he called it done,a huge black tribal as he called it...which tribe we said, at which point he just looked at us blankly which to us said it all,he just wanted to be one of millions with the same sort of tattoo so therefore how can that be individual or alternative?
Once again only our opinion so no offence to anyone |

I have a lot of piercings and tattoos including a sleeve and chest piece i honestly dont think if they are done right they make women look rough. I get the odd remark about how i look but being alternative on here seems to get girls alot of good and unwanted attention |

I don't see why though?
Irritates me how people do react to them! No reason to be mean about it! |

Have got nearly 20 hrs of ink so far. Each n everyone means something to me. Tributes to lost family members etc. Colour my hair different colours every month. But honestly don't see why everyone has so many issues about it. You're either tattooed or not n either you love them on others or you don't. No need for peeps to get thier undies in an uproar!! |

"I've always wondered what people class as ott with piercings and tattoos"
With piercings personally it's just the face for me I don't like too much going on, on the lips especially and I loathe cheek piercings but a few tastefull one I do like |

personally, i can walk into a job interview and not look any different to my old man.
if you cant hide it for a formal occasion, then its too far, imo |

"Well if colouring yourself in is classed as an interest im glad its not one of ours
Then please give up on this thread
You asked for opinions... Or did you only want positive ones? You should have been more specific.
Tattoos are on the outside and it's what's on the inside of a woman that counts - me, if I'm lucky. LOL
Yeah I did and they gave there opinion then it just became abuse to people who like tattoos. "
I can't see any abuse, just personal opinions? Personally as I've said tattoos or no, it's window dressing and shouldn't define who a person is. |

"Dammit with 26 and 14 of them being in my face looks like I'm in the ott club "
It's personal preference though for me it's not someone i spend my life with.
Many friends of mine have a lot of facial piercings I would never say they look daft cause to them they don't it's just not my taste. As long as your happy that's all that matters |

no it doesnt, again imo.
im a truck driver, so am supposed to be scruffy and tattood and so on, but still, especially in this weather, i could be a banker, scientist or lecturer because when i wear long sleeved tops and trousers, nobody knows i have tattoos, and thats how it should be.
i have seen people with their faces covered in tattoos and they wonder why they are unemployed.
well, if someone came into an interview looking like that, it would put me off over an equally suitable candidate that didnt. |

I'm so glad we work in the the tattoo industry, love tattoos, love piercings, love scarification and body mods...and my husband looks like an accountant and loves the cut of a nice suit, does that make us alternative? Hope so...we're quite boring else |

I had a tattoo done some 25 years ago and have disliked it just as long. Tattoo's on others neither excite nor repulse me.
I am a little in the 'alternative' group as I do have a few decade old piercings - (all of them are head height.) I sometimes have blue or green hair and I also rock dreadlock extensions at times. My dress sense is not 'up to date' nor fashionable'.
It made me laugh a while back when some young teens accused me of copying their style ... Yeah right, I was doing my thing before they were born haha! |
