I know I'm not alone in being the only one to moan about people wasting time and inappropriate winking but please.....
Read our profile which clearly states no bi tendencies/urges & me (female) won't meet smokers before you send a wink. Especially when your profile says you both smoke & you're looking for a bi female

I see 2 problems here, firstly you are asking people to think, secondly to read profiles lol!! It drives me mad too but nothing we can do about it other than just delete. |

See profiles are limited...
Just because they are looking for bi females doesn't mean they only play with bi females.
It's hard in text, that you have to show those you;
wish to attract,
wish to deter
and the other randoms, everything about you.
I'm bi, with the right woman.
I'm sexually active, with the right people.
Just because something is stated on my profile, it isn't set in stone |

I still get winks despite the opening line of my profile, and have blocked some gorgeous winkers as a result - still, if they can't be bothered to read my profile then why should I show an interest in them? |

I wouldn't read a whole profile before I winked. I wink people I fancy, I wink loads of people. If I want to meet them then I message them. But if someone lives 200 miles away and they are hot then I wink them as I know I can't meet them. I just want them to know i think they are hot. It's a compliment, you only have to read it for a second so winks are not time consuming. I think you can disable the function as well.

In my view winks are just a small compliment - who knows how the viewer meant them, they may have no desire to meet you anyway, or may be saying 'sorry, I don't fit your criteria so won't write but just wanted to express my attraction'.......
Lighten up everyone!!

I tend to ignore winks. Friend requests and cock avatars do not interest me either.
I don't delete friend request as they can send another request. I leave them. I think I have over 100 requests and similar for winks.
I have probably missed lots of nice people because they have winked to show intetest and I haven't done the same back. Am sure though my profile says no thanks to winks but if they can't be bothered to think of my preferences rather than just theirs then am happy to not meet them x |

I just clear the number off the home page for friends invites/winks.
Otherwise I dont delete either list anymore |

"Does noonelse reckon it would be better if the wink, invite, hotlist etc buttons would be at the bottom of a profile?"
I think it would be a very good idea!
Personally there is no harm in a wink. I wouldn't complain if I walked past a building site and got wolf whistled by a bloke who I wouldn't necessarily go to bed with! |

I've ended up meeting a few people who have winked at me, one after I fabbed a pic of his, the others I liked the look of and messaged thanking them for the wink. If I'm not interested then I just delete them. I quite like the feature. |

As for winks, I think it's a shame they have such 'bad press'. I think it's quite a natural way to show interest and reciprocate. However I understand why they dont really work on this site. Naturally, based on this I like receiving them from ladies and couples |

Why do people take offence to a wink?
Do people really think of the wink as a two fingered salute?

thats far too logical for my thinking...
I'm actually in a hangover annoyed head and this whole winking thread already has my head thumping(when it comes up in various posts)....then might hear that someone isnt getting the amounts of meets they want, so they dont look at various site tools (winks, whos looked at u)..however quite happy to complain the sites full of time wasters blahh fucking blahh fucking blah |

full balls = empty head. |

I think you get different kind of winks.
The random winkers who wink at anything that has a pulse.
The ones that wink because your picture has caught their eye & it's a quick way to say ~ 'how you doing'...
and the cheeky winks you get from other forum posters x |

The difficulty is knowing whether they systematically ignore winks or selectively, if it is not clear in their profile. As a rule I wouldn't wink someone who's profile I had not read. |

Yes, I ignore them a lot - I look at them, but there is often not enough for me to decide to wink back - few or no decent pics, little on the profile etc. In that case those people would need to message me to get a response, give me more information, I hope they would realise. If I see a good pic and profile I'm attracted to, I'll wink back. |

seriously tho, we wink if we like a profile to let them know were intrested if they don't wink back then we take it they are not simples ,
same the other way we respond to winks we like or don't respond to the ones we don't .
so winks for us are discreet way of introducing yourselves, that's cool with us |

Don't misinterpret my post as being anti wink. I think it's a great facility & use it occasionally. I appreciate it's the equivalent of a friendly wave or wolf whistle in real life.
Just don't see the point of winking someone who has no boxes you tick. Like going to the butchers for a cabbage....pointless

I'm not offended at all. However my time on here is not as much as I'd like to have. I'd rather receive a message even if it said only "hi". At least it's took more effort than pushing the wink key
And for the record I never ignore messages it's rude. I always respond even if it's a no thank you. Way I see it if you can't be arsed to skim our profile to see if we have just one common thing then stuff it |

seriously..I do wonder
sometimes
I see sarcasm is rife still. I have winked people back and not heard a thing so waste of time "
Not really as it means they are not interested in you, put that on the note facility on their profile, that way you won't contact them again, and if they did contact you in the future, at least you can say get stuffed |

"I winked at a guy, after reading his profile and it said he welcomed
unsolicited winks.
He messaged me back, we chatted on here and we met.
It works how you want it to work.

To me a wink is nothing more than an expression of appreciation for a profile, sometimes it will be taken further, sometimes just saying nice profile and as such we use it to say so to those who for geographical or other reasons we know we will never meet, yes kind of pointless if you like but always nice to be appreciated! |

"In my view winks are just a small compliment - who knows how the viewer meant them, they may have no desire to meet you anyway, or may be saying 'sorry, I don't fit your criteria so won't write but just wanted to express my attraction'.......
Lighten up everyone!!
"
I agree. I don't think it's something to get worked up over really. |
