Probably the foremost expert in Shibari in the UK is Esinem who does run classes and at least once a year a weekend of teaching and demonstrations that are amazing. I know there are others here who will hopefully add more detail about this later.

I think if I blindfolded someone and then tied them up, it would have to be to a railway line. Then I'd remove the blindfold. Obviously I'd need a cape and comedy moustache and monocle.
I would release them after I'd had my laugh, but it would be too good an opportunity to miss  |

Love doing this.
I use ties to restrain my fb - ties as in Tie Rack. They don't need an 80 year old Shibari expert to make a good tight restraint - and they don't leave any marks.
And they can be removed easily because you can wrap without making difficult knots.
I Use a sleeping mask from Emirates Business Class as a blindfold and a pair of industrial ear buds.
