I keep reading profiles who specifically mention that all winks are/will be ignored...
Are they redundant and do any of you still use them/check them? |

Winks are of no use to me I delete them...
Wish I could block them.
I ignore friend requests from.people who just chance their luck, as they can't send you more than one. |

I think winks work. Sometimes i have a response back if they like what they read and sometimes i don't. There are some instances where i know they have looked at my profile but not responded back...and I respect that too.
...i think that's the purpose of winks and it works for me.

"We check ours and wink back if we're interested. We like them and think they're a useful tool."
If someone likes you enough to wink then why don't they like you enough to actually message? |

A wink shows someone has taken the time to look at your profile. Does not mean they want to get straight into your knickers. Just that they like what they initially see and would like a bit more information. Easy to respond to (or not), and a good way of seeing who is interested.
Wink away.

we like winks.
says someone likes what they see.
kind of a tentative advance.
like a look across the bar.
if they smile back (a return wink) then we go over and say hi.
even in real life, neither of us would just walk up to someone and start chatting, so why do it any different on here? |

I check mine; however, as my profile states, not to often.
If I like the look of the 'winker' and he/she/they are close enough to be a viable meet I will either message or wink back.
If he/she/they are miles away I'll have a quick perv but just take it as a compliment and nothing else |

If winks were.used properly it would save a load of wasted time writing to folk who dont even read the mail you have put some time and effort into.

I don't check mine very often as they're usually from men who live hours away. However, there was a local who'd winked at me about 10 days ago, took a look at his profile, winked back, been chatting and we've arranged a social meet next week |

I just checked mine out of curiosity and a quick scroll suggests the majority of my winks are from reasonably local people eithervvastly below or above my age range so possibly trying their luck. Also couples. |

this is where I stand... all a wink tells me is that the person who did it managed to find the "wink" button.....
I want to get a feel for the people behind sending the message..... I had no idea if they have read my profile, or just looked at my pictures..... |

We hate winks .... if people are really interested then they will type a short message.
All a wink says to us is "look at my profile first, before i can be arsed to write anything and get rejected anyhow|"
If someone has taken the time to actually read our profile, sends a message and thier profile resembles what we are looking for - then they will always get a reply. |

"I may be wrong but I take a wink to just mean . I or we like what we see so far xxx"
Agree, possibly some overthinking going on? Its a bit of fun and I have never understood why some people get so bothered about them, do they alter your profile- no, do they flash on your screen annoyingly- no, If they are ignoring them then surely that means they dont look at 'who winked at me' page....or do they? lol |

Don't mind receiving them and always follow them up with a message x |

Very good methinks...a good software addition
Mainly because it, indirectly, s out the Victor Meldrew couples... You know the type ' winks will be ignored n deleted we are too cool to use em etc'
When we see that sort of thing in a profile they get added to the block list as we don't do boring...
I agree, however, that it's often difficult to keep up with it all...... |

I think it's a good thing, sometimes when your just browsing/ perving it's just a quick way of showing your interest without being too intrusive, also good to get them. However I do message people I'm interested in |

I get lots. I currently have 34 winks. No idea who though as don't pay attention to them. The same for friend invites. No idea how many new ones I have. Probably in the 40s as a guess.
I don't pay attention to either of them. Only time I do look is when a thread like this comes up. |

This is a swinging website with good facilities that people have no real reason not to use. Winks we find are one of the best things on this site as it allows the user to check out the profile, and if not interested, ignore without offending as opposed to a message being ignored. We feel that a wink is a flattering, to delete without even looking at the profile is very disrespectful. It takes not even a minute of someones time to reply to a wink!
That's only our opinion though |

Isn't it simple ? If you bother to look at winks then you use them, if you're not you don't ?
Its a harmless ice breaker in my opinion and I'm not sure why some get bothered by something you can ignore with no effort. |

I looked recently and had well over 100 winks. Its gonna take along time if I am rude to not reply to them or bother to look at them. It woukd take me bloody ages. That leaves me no time for the people I actually want to meet.
I don't use them or pay attention to them. If that makes me rude so be it.

I think it is down to the individual to use which facilities they wish to use. I don't think it is rude to exercise the right of freewill. |

Very true, couldn't agree more which is why we expressed our right of free will by stating our opinion

Well said. We try and answer all our winks even if its a no thank you. It's amazing what annoys people, if winks are not for you then just ignore them. They are a tool and in past we have had some lovely meets from them |

True.
But if people about to message or wink would actually read the profile before messaging or winking it would save time sending endless messages or winks.
I get the are you free tonight messages when my profile states that with having one weekend a month free it is very unlikely I am free. I get messages (copy and paste I assume) asking how I am finding the site! I have been on for years now and have many verfis. If they read my profile first they wouldn't need to ask that question.
Unfortunately people use the site as it suits them. I don't pay attention to winks or friend invites. But others do. If people read profiles before getting in touch they would save everyones time x |

Probably because when you log in the first page you come to tells you how many you have waiting? Least that's what happens when I log in. |

Completely agree and the same reasons that I dont bother with winks or friends invites with the exception of those who I have chatted to and who ask! It is clear that the majority haven't got even read my profile yet they are offended when I dont respond! |

I generally take little notice of winks, especially if the members profile has no public pics. I have on a few occasions received winks from people who's pics I've fabbed so have then messaged, a couple ending in good meets so I guess they work in certain situations |

I checked them especially for the thread obviously. There is a little thingy on my screen that tells me how many new ones I have. I have no idea from who though. |

I don't even look to see who has fabbed mi e either. I see on my screen that my pucs have been fabbed so many times but also don't look to see who very often.
If someone fabs my pics its because they like them. I don't see they are doing it to get in the back door so to speak lol |
