Hey everyone,
I'm a semi-pro photographer who has specialised in Landscape and Motorsport photography in the past.
I'm now trying my hand at portrait photography, specifically for adult profiles on adult sites.
I don't charge anything, just ask for a credit on your profile and word-of-mouth (ooer!) references.
I don't keep the pictures I take, they will be yours to keep and use. They are supplied full resolution (~3MB/pic) on a DVD.
I've done a recent shoot this week with "Delicious Duo", so check them out for samples of what I can do.
If you're interested, send me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Cheers! :D |

Surely putting a credit on your profile for someone who took your pics will be against the site rules?
While you are not charging the people for your services, surely you are a commercial enterprise and therefore not allowed on peoples profiles! |

Not wishing to put the boot in but your not exactly advertising your self well. Your pictures ate mediocre at best and the couple you mention are not really showing a lot. We were looking for someone to take a batch of pictures but we wouldn’t rush to choose you, sorry but its true. May I suggest taking some more pictures of your self and displaying up to 50 with a silver membership if your really serious. |

Pah hah I always love these, 'Im a pro photoghapher threads' then I look at the profile photos ..
Not much going on there then
Maybe it needs to be re worded.
"I have a camera and can take snaps. maybe I can dupe my way into getting a meet by saying that I'm a pro photographer and pretend that I'm not aiming to get anything out of it apart from taking your photos"
or maybe my cynical side has made a brief and unexpected appearance |

PS - may be you should ask them to actually display them before advertising."
Perhaps they have

only 3mb per picture at full resolution?
My new camera I just bought last week takes pictures that turn out 5-6mb and that camera was only £59.99.
So if your camera only takes pictures that work out at 3mb file size at full resolution (about 5 megapixle) I would think about upgrading your camera to something a bit newer as yours is far from a semi-professional one lol

Crikey, tough crowd!
If you read my profile, I dont have public pictures for a reason. I'm happy to show my private friend only pictures on request.
To those who think that this is just an attempt to get meets, i've had plenty of those (check my verifications) prior to my idea of offering free pictures.
Again, if you read my original post, i have specialised in Motorsport and Landscape photography up till now. I can provide links to my previous work if people are interested in looking at my recent work at the Sunseeker Rally in Bournemouth.
The couple in question have only just tonight received the full-res DVD to add more pictures to their profile from our shoot. The ones on their profile at present just a couple of samples I sent them immediately after the event.
I'm getting tired of explaining/justifying myself, but i'll keep going
The kit I use is a Canon EOS 40D, Sigma and Canon Lenses and a Canon 430EX flash, weighing in at around £2ks worth of kit. So to address the 3MB images, these are compressed JPG's, RAW images work out to be around 12.4MB.
And as for taking 50 self portraits to post on my profile.. erm, no.. people will think I love myself.. lol.
Anything else? No? Good.
Remember this is just a friendly offer, I don't want anything in return and I am certainly not a commercial enterprise.. if I were, I would be charging. |

Thank you, i've been sat on my hands most of the night resisting typing a raging reply, as I agree that this is all about having fun, so I didn't want to incite a flame-war on the forum and detract from the original purpose of this thread. |

What they said! LOL
You will gain a lot more credibility as well if you rise above the shots and laugh back.
Best of luck.

Just realised I posted using the wrong profile D'oh!
Anyway, you're quite right, more of the pics will follow shortly.
We are both very pleased with all of the pics you took for us and we had an absolutely great time meeting you, not just for the piccies, and that's the most important thing right?
Judging by the messages you showed me earlier, you're not going to have any problems getting more experience in this area enjoy xx |

Ok... I um'd and ah'd about adding to this thread for a long while. I (Jeff) am a professional photographer, so I am wary of saying anything that might seem bitchy, because as a rule, in this business, professionals tend to be very supportive of each other. I won't comment directly on the OP himself, or the samples of his work (although, as you did ask for constructive criticism I advise this. Assuming you shoot in RAW, when you convert portraits to B&W, add the red filter).
I will ask this though, why would a 'professional' photographer offer to work for free? Especially on a site where you cannot advertise commercially and boudoir shoots are a good money-spinner.
Unless folks want a mobile studio setting up in their bedroom, to be honest, unless you are a new David Bailey, for the medium of profile photos, a half decent digital camera, a built in flash, and a little imagination is all you need.
One bit of advice though ladies and gents, if you are going to buy a camera, ignore the Mega Pixels conspiracy... A camera could be 20 mega pixels, but if the sensor is crap, it doesn't mean a damn. So go for a quality name, and like the OP has done, you can't go wrong with Canon/

Thats what I use - a 40D. Always had canon in the past, AE1, EF .. and now I've moved into the age of technology, the 40D
Excellent kit, but don't forget, the quality of the lens can also make or break a decent set of photos too Use a good camera but a crap lens you get crap results |

Having said that, we also have a little 'slip in ya pocket' Samsung L313 point and shoot which we usually take with us on holidays because it's so much easier than humping around a DSLR and all the kit, and I'll tell you something, put 2 identical pictures from each camera side by side and I'll defy anyone to tell the difference.
The Samsung 'claims' to be 13.6 megapixel and boy does it take one hell of a good photo |

Well said Redhot. Mind you, a person could buy all the best kit in the world, but if they haven't got the imagination to use it, it won't help.
I use the excellent Canon 5D for most of my work... Maybe we should have a Canon Kit Owners Meet, and we'll get together and spit at Nikon owners |

Lol @ spitting at Nikon Owners
When I bought the 40D, I had my eye on the 5D, (I'm sure it was the 5D), but it was just toooooo expensive and tbh, I don't use mine for any other than personal use, so there was no way, even if I could have afforded it, that I could have justified the 4 grand or whatever crazy money Canon were asking |

I just bought an olympus 8meg yet the pictures don't seem as clear as a 5meg sony eicsson camera on a phone I had
I would of assumed though that a professional picture at full quality would of ended larger file size and resolution than a cheap camera like mine but then it's not my trade so was just an assumption.
Anyway, while we are at it, is there a digital camera that don't cost a fortune that takes decent video as well as pictures that don't require beaming sunlight?

Yep there is:
The one which I mentioned earlier in the thread - Samsung L313, it shoots absoloutely top notch video as well as top notch photos.
It's listed as 13.6 megapixels and is a brilliant little camera which gives outstanding results.
About this time last year we got it from Argos and I think it cost about £95 |

Yeah, it's a shame about the camera. I personally wouldn't touch an Olympus digital camera with a shitty stick. They have a bad reputation with their sensors. They haven't done the cross-over to digital very well.
For what you are asking, it depends on your budget. We have a Canon PowerShot which has a reasonable video facility, but they can be dear. I don't know what other image/video cameras are on the market, but I have always found the Fuji brand to be an excellent camera. |

im going to say this - why do guys with a digital camera think they can take pro snaps. there is a big difference between doing landscapes and car snaps and shooting pro-glamour.
for some one to say that they will not keep a copy of their own images is an idiot or just hopes for a handjob after a shoot. photographers make their money from copyright of their images.they dont give them away.
I just hate it when anyone says they are a "semi professional".
oh im a "semi pro" dentist can i pull your teeth out
now that sounds daft and it is, you would not go to them for dental work
so why go to a "semi Pro" they are not semi anything they are amatures who might have sold a pic to a newspaper if they are lucky.
So you are a AMATURE who might be good with a camera please oh please dont call your self a semi pro. it is like a semi hardon not much use.
rant over from a qualified photographer

And obviously just trying to make another single guy look bad so he can look better! (From a professional Photgrapher!)
In answer to the question would I have teeth pulled by a semi pro Dentist? Yep! And I do... Semi Professional just means that he/she is paid to do dental work but it may not be their main or only job! My Dentist is part time and teaches Golf in the afternoons... Semi Pro at both! |

Yet again the hostility that comes from the fabs crowd astounds me. Genuine chap offering to take pics (which let's face it can be pretty dam difficult to do by yourself) is shot down in flames. Mr camera operator if you are ever down this neck of the woods I would be more than happy to accept your very generous request and to all u miserable lot out their - spit your dummies out over things like swingers barebacking surely that's worth a rant in itself. |

I don't think I've ever met a "qualified photographer", in my experience they prefer to call themselves "professional photographer".... some of the best photojournalists in the world have ZERO qualifications and their conflict zone photos are front page, week in week out.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a mere "enthusiast" who's really trying to make something of my photography.
And in defence of the OP I could have written something very similar. I enjoy landscape but would love to photograph people more, so guess what... given that I love the swinging scene I'll amalgamate the two.... I may even enjoy it! |
