"whats the difference... not the meaning, the actual act?
Surely it's a state of mind thing? 
So what do you do?"
Sex with your partner is "love", but do the same with a playmate and its "just" sex. So the difference between the two depends where your head is, emotionaly speaking? |

Now I have a serious question... when looking at both threads, the one on kissing and this one...and it has been asked before... and we know what the difference means for us... but...
What is the difference between making love and having sex to other people? Is it
1. Speed
2. Duration
3. Interaction of tongues or lack of?
4. Frequency?
5. Musical background?
6. Are some positions more love-making and others more sex having?
7. Can making love be fun or is the fun/ laughter element reserved to sex?
8. Can having sex be romantic... ever?
9. Can they be interwined?

Making love is sex with emotional connection... that and a bullshit line used to make gullible women stop nagging... "hey babe I only fuck her... I make love to you" 
Thus, the only difference between having sex and making love is what's going on in your head. |

State of mind in most cases as the physical action is the same. Sometimes more tenderness and much more eye contact but the big difference is emotional involvement. |

We only make love with each other
So yes, we think its more a state of mind thing.

3 minutes of a difference!! 
sex is when there is no great emotional connection for me and im fulfilling a basic need.
love is when i have deep feelings for that person that go beyond the buddy feelings but sometimes i can love a friend but with passion too.

I always call it "making love". My best friend who also was born a gay man calls me a "straight woman in a gay man's body", so I suppose what he means is that I am a feelings/emotions type of person rather than someone who can "use" someone as an object, or calls people "just a fuck" or "just a hole" which I do hear from some men on these types of websites.
I did rampant "empty" sex as a teenager, long before I left school but I have my self-respect now so look for people who like myself are tactile. Someone you are glad to have visted you lol, rather than thank Ullah that is over. A lot of men seem to treat gay men just like they try and treat women, as creatures or objects just here to please them. 2 things I look for from a visitor, is respect for me, AND gratitude.

Sometimes the two of us make love, sometimes we just have sex. Our definition of the first is firstly, when you are actually have a loving relationship, then secondly where you take time, do lots of talking, kissing and fondling, go out of your way to please the other one, and generally make it a loving and romantic experience. On these occasions we try to come together (and usually succeed). That doesn't mean it doesn't get very intense! At other times, we just have sex together, where it's more urgent and frantic and more about physical pleasure and less about satisfying emotional needs.
When we're with others, we don't 'make love' as we're not in love with any of our swinging partners. We might do all the other things in our definition of making love, and often do with others, but as far as we're concerned it's just having sex. That doesn't mean we don't like and respect our other sex-partners, and we certainly don't treat them, or expect to be treated ourselves, like sex objects.
We had a discussion about whether you can 'make love' to more than one regular sex partner - R thinks not, but G disagrees as a while ago he had a wife and a long-term girlfriend (she probably qualified as a mistress although she and he didn't like that expression) and he regularly made love with both women during that period of his life (though unfortunately not at the same time!).
In any case, both types of sex can be described by the good old word "fucking". That's what we enjoy! |
