This week I have been contemplating giving up the swinging lifestyle.
And it got me thinking to why I have been doing it for nearly 15 years... What are peoples reasons for partaking in such a lifestyle? |

no far from it... as i say maybe its me that sees swinging as a way to be around like minded people, an opportunity to be open and care free about what you discuss and what you do.. i know swingers that do this more for social release than sex.. |

I initially thought it was just a way to get my rocks off with multiple partners and a good way to satisfy my bi side, but I've been pleasantly surprised at the amount of social interaction I've had through the site - I'd still say 80%+ just sex though  |

Because I'm single but have needs I.don't want to go to pubs etc and have lots of one night stands as I prefer to take my time and see people again ....but not looking to date anyone so all in all I swing because I need sex but there is the social side too |

Yes and some new experiences that push my boundaries, explore my sexuality and be a little out of my comfort zone.
For me it is not about socialising and meeting like minded ppl or making friends it is mostly sexual. |

People swing for many reasons, including , but not exclusively.
they have been hurt and cant trust others.
only way they can get sex, because they have a personality disorder
damaged form a relationship or marriage.
don't have the time to put into a relationship
are trapped in a marriage or relationship because of children, money or family, or a combination of all 3
Too lazy or not motivated enough to end a relationship they are not happy in, so look for sex with random people, in the hope it improves their quality of life.
Boredom
self gratification
low self esteem
huge ego
big cock
freedom from restraint
fantasy

I have always been a very sexual person and have basically been a "swingle" for a decade through clubs and various dating websites. I personally find I can relate to this community well. I found my people so to speak, so its not just sex for me.  |

We swing as we have an already fantastic sex life together but as we are both bi we joined here together so we get that side of our pleasures together without having to sneak around having affairs just to get some same sex fun.
We had a discussion very early stages into our relationship about what turns us on & found (luckily) we are both into bi fun & now been together nearly 10yrs & swinging for around 7yrs.
Just as well we love to see each other having fun too lol |

We had a similar conversation at our local club the other night . For some it isn't just about the sex . For others ( like us ) it really is .
Perhaps we are not real swingers ?
Who knows but it really is about the sex for us .....we simply don't go out for a social !

Bored and was looking to spice up our life and now like you we are bored again .Swinging was fun but been there now years off and on and we like loads of other things as much. We can go months and don't wish to meet only our friends . |

I (Mr) started swinging when I was in a sexless marriage as far back as the 80's. Then it was just for sex, pure and simple.
Since I got divorced I have had times in longer relationships that haven't involved any swinging, but also a couple (including with my current partner of 8 years) that have.
These days it isn't just about sex, although we like a lot of it, but we both fully enjoy the social side, and love the atmosphere in swinger clubs so a sexless club night isn't really a problem (but not too often  )
I suppose we just enjoy pushing the boundary's, being a bit edgy, and if we're completely honest at our age getting in as much as we can before it's too late. |

as has been mentioned, everyone has different reasons.
For me personally, its a bit of an ego trip, I like people looking at kim and wanting her, and get turned on seeing them get turned on by her. However, we both enjoy the social side to a club visit, being able to chat to like minded people.
Im not sure id be as comfortable with it if i was a single guy because a big part of it for me is that I feel closer to her, its our secret and we like to talk about what we,ve done and what we plan to do in the future. |

To push and explore our boundaries
To enjoy group sex and do things that take more than 2.
For the social side, we enjoy meeting & chatting with people.
For the friendships...very lucky that we have built some great friendships. Some who we see just for meals / evenings out.

Sick of being asked for sex on dating sites.
Had some fun and its additive. But its not a life style I want to stay with I keep signing up and off.

For us it was to explore our wildest dreams and fantasies. More so to share them with each other. Like others for us it's just the sex. It's only about 30% of sex we would say. It's more about connecting with like minded people. We don't find it an excuse just to bonk someone's wife or hubby but if we have great sex with others then that's a bonus. We enjoy the social side too. We have a wonderful and experimental sex life. But fantasies generally involve others. So if we can't explore them together and feel liberated and free around each other we shouldn't be together. It's not something that controls our lives like some. Connection is big for us. Respect even more important. Pushing boundaries is big on our agenda. |

I guess 15 years in it is quite a journey ....could understand as you questioning things but then again ....there's unlimited things to try and experiance regarding sex .....it's about opening up that imagination and going wild ....within reason of course ...

I'm bi, I could easily be 'faithful' but with swinging I can continue.
We have fantasies we simply couldn't do with just the two of us.

We came into swinging by accident really lol but realised how fun it was and how close and open it made us and learned so much more sbout each other sexually we had a tight relationship before swinging and still have one now so far its all been fun cant say that we will swing forever but for now its all good are relationship still has the same values as any other non swinging relationship

We do it for the excitement fun and the hint of being non conformist but we do take long breaks away from it that can be months at a time that way it stays fresh. Try a break rather than give up then come back in say 3-6 months if you feel like it or take another 6 months if not. |

I am just not into giving anyone any commitment so swinging is the way to go.But in saying that I have met some very nice people and I guess give a bit of that commitment back.
