Don't approach when they're still gnawing on a bone! Surefire way of getting bitten!

There are signals, mainly using the interior lights of the car. I'm not claiming to be an experienced dogger by any means but I do have some good friends who are.

In general it seems that if a couple is in a car playing and has their interior light on they don't mind people watching. If they have their window down they might welcome a wandering hand (though always a good idea to ask first!).

Hopefully if playing outside the car or with the door open they will say if they want people to join in or if it's watching only.

Different parts of the country have different customs, but pretty accurate in my experience.

If you are in a car park and there is a couple in the car next to you, remember they could be civilians and not welcome you going over. One thing you could do is, put your interior light on, pretend you are looking for something, that way they get to see if they fancy you, then get out of the car and stand leaning against yours and see if they make a move.

I was in a car park (not dogging) the other day with a female friend, just chatting when a guy rode in on his pushbike,in full racing gear, cycling shorts, and helmet on, he stopped by the car and pretended to drink water while looking into the car, at first it was funny but it got abit wierd when he just kept staring in and wouldnt go even tho we gave no hint we were gonna do anything,it made my friend really uncomfy to be honest when I said he might be a dogger, in the end we had to leave and im.sure he tried his best to bike after us

Similar thing happened to me and a friend once, parked up in a car park chatting. When we noticed that someone was creeping along at right angles to us, peering through our back window. ... in an articulated lorry.

If a couple want you to watch them or to join in with them, they won't leave you in any doubt about it.

IF you're in any doubt, stay clear.

The interior light / brake light thing died out when boy racers caught wind of these things and started taking the piss. No-one bothers any more.

Nowadays, you need to look out for body language like the start of a BJ, or clothes coming off. Sometimes a window opening is the sign of interest too.

The problem is that no two couples do things the same way. Some like you to come for a chat first before doing anything, others prefer you to sneak up and pretend not to notice you. The problem is that they don't have labels on to indicate their preferences.

Dogging is also done in different ways on different car parks. In the South West, people tend to park their cars and go around the car parks on foot. In the Midlands, you don't get out of your car unless you are invited up to someone's window.

If you are new to the game, prepare for a learning curve and to make some mistakes. Prey to whoever that what you do won't put anyone else off from coming again else you will quickly become very unpopular with the other doggers around. Try to remember what you got right, and what you got wrong so that you don't repeat your mistakes.

Finally, you're bound to get some beginners luck but after that be prepared for a long wait between moments of fun. Sometimes you can go for weeks before you see another couple on your patch. Name of the game I'm afraid.

Well if I hadn't had the interior light on in our car no one would have seen a thing as it was pitch black! No lights in the car park and in the middle of nowhere. It was quite eerie.

One thing you learn is just how well you CAN see in the dark. If you let your eyes adjust to darkness you can see more than you think you can.

Playing around with lights, or getting a face full of someone else's headlights can bugger up your night vision and then you really won't see what you're looking for.

Play it by ear (sort of) if you like. If after the show you don't need your night vision, then by all means turn lights on, but try to save the "bonus" for when it will do no harm.

If the couple are offering up fun, it's in their interests as well to make sure that the message gets delivered to you.

Kind of reminds me of a funny incident not long ago in the Birmingham area. A couple were so keen to make sure that a guy got a show that they got out of the car and stared their show in between their car and the guy parked 5ft away from them. The funny thing was that the guy they were parked next to was gay and not in the slightest bit interested in hetero activity, and after a couple of minutes he drove away. (not that I objected to that, being the fortuitous beneficiary of that involuntary gesture of generosity lol)

Goes to show, there are more pitfalls than one in this caper!
