If you want to debate then here's my response: capitalism has pretty much been around since the industrial revolution. Unsustainable? We won't see any change in our lifetime. What's the alternative, communism? Yeah that worked didn't it. Stalin made sure the country's wealth was distributed fairly among the Russian people

Yes i have an idea ...a society of ordinary people being ordained like a jury to debate and determine which laws and policies should be reffered to the general populace. The committies should serve only briefly and we can internet vote on there decisions ..a referendum society ...no agendas no elected repersentatives who abuse there mandates no dictators.Its not ideal mistakes will be made but given powre and real education people will become more sophisticated ...what do you think ?

It is a real democracy where we are all equal and all sharing the same power and responsibilty .There could be small government for administrative purposes only imagine a world without politicians .Before voting population should listen to debate on all the referendable issues .There will be pitfalls ..capital punishment for instance would be in danger of being reintroduced , but people will learn and become more sophisticated .We must trust in each other and not in oliagachs corrupt ploiticians and the people who maintain a self serving monopoly on our lives .Not utopia just a better future x

Well, ok, let's run with the OP a moment. Personally, Id say the UK suffers from the Matrix Syndrome...whilst everyone's lives are not controlled and steered by an immense AI system using them as a power source, its fair to say that the vast majority of wealth and decision making affecting our every day lives is controlled by a few faceless, nameless people who all know each other.

I find this highly amusing. The OP was quite something different indeed, and brought on the usual onslaught of non/mis-comprehensions and finger pointing to spelling errors. In the end they petered out and some kind of discussion got established after all.

Why lower every thread to the lowest common denominator? There's room for all. If it's not your cup of cappuccino, then skip the thread.

I agree in essence what you're trying to state but the OP started off with the derogatory remarks. Some of the posts are missing. Let's just say that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

The OP is in Aux Barricades-mode. Of course he uses derogatory remarks. If he dwells in a glass house, well - I do not know him personally, and if you do then bringing that into the equation makes it in a fashion elitist as well, as in restricting the discussion to those who do know the OP. Keep it general.

I'd offer "Atlas Shrugged"'s philosophy as an option. Before I get vilified within an inch of my Fab-life, I do not state that I either endorse or denounce Objectivism. Discuss!
