I think the difference is with fb's and fwb's is that there arent feelings in the same way as a bf/gf relationship.
The key to fb's and fwb's is that sex is no strings between them. |

I see it as the absence of loving feelings... I care for my play parter, and we respect each other.. but there is no romance, or loving business going on..

A lot of people (some likely to post in this thread) will move the goalposts to suit their needs.
In the "classic" sense, an FB or FWB is a friend with whom you have no strings sex with.
It appears to have evolved beyond that for others. Been ages since i had one, so i can only observe based on the comments those with one or more display. |

It happens I have had it in the past. It started as one offs. then regular meets aka F/B then you can get jealousy and people thinking they have priority/rights to you. Even if you spell things out clearly they still don't see it. |

Been there, got the tshirt. I ended it once it became apparent that we weren't after the same things. That's how it should be. We both know it isn't always the case.
I strongly suspect that those who absolutely don't want a relationship find FB/FWB arrangements easier to stick to than those who enter them leaving themselves open to the possibility of finding a long term partner (it might not necessarily be with their FB) |

My opinion:
A fuck buddy is a person you hook up with for sex only, maybe drinks and chat too.
A friend with benefits is just that - a friend, with whom you have sex with, but there are other extra-curricular activities too. It's a relationship but without any expected commitment.
An open relationship is where you are most likely in a girlfriend/boyfriend scenario but play with others, either together or alone.
I've had all of the above and there are differences to me. Others may not agree though. |

There seem to be some people who decribe a fb relationship but the finer details make it sound like a bf/gf relationship, or atleast the early stages or one, ie meeting for drinks, meals, dates, to me that more than just sex. |

I have a few guys I regard as a fuck buddy. . . Now to me, they aren't necessarily a friend. Just someone I can call on when I feel like it, and same to them. May not even speak in between booty calls.
A friend with benefits is more a friend, someone I can have a normal vanilla friendship with too, as well as having sex now and again. There is no feelings other than love for a friend involved.
That's my take on it anyway. |

For me the difference between a fuck bud and a boyfriend is that i don't have to run anything past a f/b, if i want to meet anyone else its nothing to do with him and visa versa where as if i did that with a boyfriend it would be cheating |

A fwb or fb offer you all the benifits of friendship so they have your emotional well being in mind at all times like a normal friend does so cuddles intimate emotion chats are OK where you bear your soul like you would with your best friend .
They also have your sexual well being up most in there mind as well they supply every think a normal boy girl relationship should supply where two people are in love but with out the love to complicate things |
