We shot a movie with a lovely deaf girl a while back, we wondered why she didn't answer the phone & only texted us until we met & realised.

I'm partially deaf and wear hearing aids. I don't seem to have problems and if others do then they are not for me. I can't talk on the phone though can put some people off I guess |

Yeah there are people who just dont want to text but talk. Sometime they get an idea that you are not genuine and got something to hide by not talking on phone. |

I get not mentioning it straight away but I would prefer to be told at some point if we were arranging to meet.
Only because A few years ago the mrs was going out with some of her friends and they all met at our house and we were all chatting in a group. I had said a few things to one person that was there and go no response. Later on when the mrs came back in and we were chatting I told her that her mate was an ignorant cow and was blanking me when I was talking to her.
She told me she was deaf and she lip read so if she wasn't looking at me she wouldn't of realised. I felt really bad about it when she told me that. if I had of knew to start with I maybe wouldn't of made myself look like a twat or got the wrong impression of her.

Yeah I have the same problem. I need to lipread and cant follow group conversation. I try to let ppl know i am deaf but not always possible. |

I am deaf swinger with lip reader n wear behind the ear hearing aid. Also my bestmate got CI and she is now swinger. Have u tried with 3um MFF (hearing guy with two deaf ladies)

My partner isnt deaf but studied irish sign language and deaf studies in college. Such an advantage to have with her career. I have the utmost respect for deaf people and agree that it wouldnt and shouldnt be a problem to anyone |

Yep likewise I have really poor hearing, lost 98%. I have a lovely boy who is my hearing dog n helps me greatly. I lip read so sometimes find it quite hard to follow conversations. I've not found it a problem meeting people and the ones I have met have been fabulous. |

haha Good helpful thread, I have an hearing aid in one ear but tend to take it out when playing as it can make people sound a bit sharp in tone of voice plus a bit subconscious. |

I am quite deaf (childhood illness).
Digital stereo has greatly improved it, but you still need to be facing me for me to be certain what you've said.
Has it affect my chances? Look at our verif list!!
The only real problem is, I have to remember to take them off before taking a facial (the audiology clinic is fed up with unglueing them!)
