When you're in the throes of a good debate but the opposition can no longer argue their point successfully, you get told to get a life.
Well.... A cat has nine lives, most forumites no doubt have more  .
I reckon those of us who do get told to get a life should wear those badges with pride  |

That's an obvious inability of them to successfully argue the position so they say get a life to belittle you. |

The key is that you can only be belittled if you allow it . Besides I'm pretty good at patronising, but likewise that person chooses as to whether it irks them |

My favourite is the "well that's my opinion" or "everyone's entitled to an opinion" sadly the opinions very rarely have any true evidence just fervent beliefs. |

I got called all the names under the sun yesterday because I said i have to have an attraction to a person I meet.....

On the other hand.. its not really about defeat or arguments. For me its about open debate and all parties hopefully seeing a new point of view |

I usually tell people to get a life when they keep trying to stick their nose in mine. And we all have our own opinions whether others choose to agree or disagree is up to them, but personal insults just show how childish they are to me x |

I agree OP, can't stand when having a debate, some people resort to patrinising because they are loosing the debate.
It's a shame when the other person replies with some personal remarks, because they get a little hot headed. I'm guilty of that on here, I really must learn not to get into stupid game playing on forums in future. |

If that were the case then I doubt if anyone would resort to insulting another forum member. Sadly, for me, it sounds a little like utopia on topics over which emotions are raised. As a consequence many only wish for their point of view to prevail and will use any means to achieve that with an almost religious fervour.  |

I see personal and general insult all the time in the forums I do my best to ignore it.
My personal favourite last resort of people losing an argument is to accuse you of judging them as if its a bad thing lol. |

I must of upset one nasty little man because he brought into the equation my fatherless children and the fact my ex husband left me. I didn't have the heart to state my ex didn't leave and that it was me who started divorce proceedings, or the fact my ex and I are on good terms :D. I simply goaded him into hanging himself for all to see . |

But what all would of seen was you loosing your debate, so you resorted to patronising and making personal comments to me.
Just like all would of clearly seen, I being the bigger person and admitted I was out if order for what I said, but like you have said you goaded me into being very foolish and resorting to slating you. I even offered you a very genuine sorry, which went unnoticed.
So again im very sorry.
But maybe you can also learn from this, because you have clearly judged wrong on this occasion, as im not a "nasty little man" this latest debate was from the female of couple.
Yes you have had a run in with male half on previous thread, but sorry to burst your bubble but im all woman.
So like they say never presume nor judge a book by its cover. |
