Any other Photographers about on this site? I'm a pretty keen amateur but I try to get out to shoot whenever I can.

Currently using a Nikon D7000 for my digital stuff, an Old Nikon FE for 35mm and a Bronica ETRS for Medium format. Hoping to start develpoing my own negatives soon

I think people get confused with pghotography and taking pics!

ok Ive no interest in developing film etc, I prefer the digital media.

but I'd never turn up to a meet(any camera is fine to an extent), take lots of snaps then hand them over on the memory card(unless the camera has some decent editing features)

I prefer to make some pics look like art, a creative perspective on the situation

*and I do take pics of almost anything..more or less have my camera with me on a daily basis

Apologies, I obviously got the wrong end of the stick and over reacted. I'll remove my head from my arse and keep posting ;^)

Back on topic, I do agree that to a certain extent that the best camera is the one you have on you but I also dont think it means that people should limit themselves to gear that is easy to carry around and use. I learned more on a manual film camera than i ever did on a point and shoot.

Of course, for example a long exposure would not work on a camera phone.

But again even if you have the expensive gear and no eye or flair you just won't get the desired result.

I have lugged heavy camera equipment across fields at 4 am to get the sunrise but also a photographer has to seize their opportunity and within seconds the moment could have passed.

Canon user here, 7D with a bag full of lens to go with it.

Mostly motorsport or wildlife and macro, mainly but have been known to get the lights out and have a play but not very often, would love to find another female to play with the wife whilst i take pics but properly lit, not just them fumbling about on the bed.

Some people have no idea about avatar pics...toilets in backgrounds do me nut in! I don't find them sexy at all and it's always men.

Well lit, good angles, focus, subject and style (whatever that is) is what I like seeing in a photo.

Makes a lot of sense. Its sometimes those cheeky shots that become your favourites. Not because of the technical composition of a photo but the memory of when/where it was taken

If you can't compose a decent image with a point and shoot or a phone camera, then all the SLR's, lenses and lights in the world won't help you.

I was a pro photographer for 8 years until this week. I'm now semi-pro as I'm studying for a degree in an entirely unrelated subject.

I mainly shoot Motorsport and gigs. I occasionally shoot models but, to be honest, it bores the crap out of me, way too static !

"Have just switched subjects from Motorsport (European supermoto) and now turning to wedding photography...have done a few now and already have 9 bookings for 2014 which have all been through word of mouth, it's something I've wanted to do for sometime and works better for me when on my days ! Have noticed a few people on here wanting pics done and have thought about offering my services but....that's not why I joined this site, never have been one for mixing business with pleasure lol"

Thats awesome that you used to shoot the supermoto racing, love those bikes, had a ktm for a few years now

I got into photography by chance...I use to race supermoto but had one to many breaks and work started to put the squeeze in me due to time off so, I started taking pics and it went from there ! I use to race ktm myself, started in a SMR 450 then moved up and ended up racing a ktm SMR 613 in the S1 class

Awesome stuff I have a 640SM and the metalwork in my leg to prove it! not as serious as your bikes but was fun on the road on cut slicks.

Jeez, you shoot weddings by choice ? I avoid them like the plague unless absolutely necessary, whereas Motorsport, I'll do at the drop of a hat...wave at me if you see me at Donington on Sunday

I dabble with a Canon 5D, keen amatuer rather than anything professional,
