being a gay man, poppers were all the craze in early 80@s until HIV, aids became known about,
poppers were a part of the gay scene, until it was shown they affect your immune system, so left people open to all sorts of virus, from the common cold to HIV, many people using poppers carried virus, without showing the symptoms, so passed HIV from person to person , without knowing, they were infected,
So using poppers is dangerous, like using most drugs, they are licensed as room fresheners, and not a drug.
so be aware you are damaging your immune system, making you vunerable to STI's
plus they affect your heart function, so if on any drugs for circulation /heart, poppers can be dangerous.

I've never taken them.. but then I'm anti Drugs in a big way anyway.. however I've been around people using them and the bigger rush seems to be in their heads... As seems no different.. however used around me and it makes me feel unwell. So will avoid anyone using them in future. |

A shop in town sells em called liquid gold i looked at em one day and being naive asked what it was he told me usually to enhance sex. I reported him not because i despise illegal subtances but in part its a newsagents and on full display that kids could easily grab.

Personally, the only time I ever sniffed one it gave me a cracking migraine and ruined the night and half the next day!

I've used them occasionally - they give a bit of a head rush, lasts for a coupla minutes...I've got some unopened bottles in my condom drawer, my FWB wants to try some anal play but wants a relaxant so they'll probably get used sometime. A friend recommended a site from abroad to buy them, said they don't give banging heads like the stuff you buy in sex shops/pound shops (and his didn't cause me any problems, so that's where I ordered mine from). If using them every now and then, I personally don't see a problem - I've read the literature regarding when not to use them and made my risk assessment so not discounting their use or abstinence...when I've got a bottle in my pocket at work and I'm sloping off to the loo every five minutes and I have no muscle control - then I've got a problem  |

I went through a phase with an ex of using them...it's nothing special, just a bit of a head rush tbh....and never did me any harm!
mind you I grew out of it at 19!! now when I see it on profiles etc I just think ppl are trying to recapture their youth and I think it's a bit sad lol |

The each to their own thing is all well and good, but we have known these to be used in a sex club.
The problem is, when the bottle is open, the people who WANT to use them are not the only people who then encounter the fumes from these.
Someone with a heart problem could have serious issues as a result of being exposed to these, it could be a matter of life and death!
THIS is my problem with them and I have in the past made my views to people using them in any public place known - strongly. |

These things are a nightmare for me and others with a heart condition who already use nitrates to treat it. Some people think it's a great laugh to leave the bottle open in a room, but it really is no laughing matter. They can cause serious health problems or even death. |

Yes they do. It's not illegal. It was mainly used for cleaning records but then people found out you can get a buzz from sniffing it so it sells more aimed for the sex trade |
