Blocked WTF?

Arranged to meet a couple in a large busy pub last week. Sent them a friends request which they didn't accept, although we did exchange face pictures. Sent them our phone number, but they didn't send us theirs.

So we arrive, get a drink and wait. After half an hour nothing - no sign of them and no phone message to say they're running late, so we leave.

10 minutes later, 40 minutes after the arranged meeting time, we get a txt, which we found when we got home.

We're now blocked, sorry, is this our fault?

What did the message say? Was it an explanation? But going by what you say, no it's not your fault!

When they didn't accept your friends request, then didn't share their mobile number, why go ahead with the meeting?

OP, am assuming you didn't talk to them as a Cpl before arranging to meet up?

We would never arrange to meet others without it being confirmed over the phone to start with, and having their contact number etc.

Obviously they had no real interest in you and have blocked further contact..

Not nice, but unfortunately it's how some do it.

I wouldn't have gone ahead with it if the conversation was all one way. Doesn't sound like they had any intention of going ahead with the meet.

If I had sent a friends request that was'nt accepted and a phone number that was ignored then I would'nt have bothered to get off my arse to make any sort of effort to meet them regardless of what was said in messages

Just curious, did their text say they had cancelled or that they were going to be late?

Its funny when you browse these forums because its often astounding how many people lack any sort of common sense.

Wont give us their number or accept a friend request ? ooh off I go to meet them then what could possibly go wrong

Never ceases to amaze me either.

OP if you couldn't spot the warning signs when they were that obvious then yes I think you need to take some responsibility. You certainly need to look at what you are doing to ensure someone is genuine.

personally, I would have blocked them when they failed to send a phone number back, never mind actually going ahead with the meet!! that 'couple' was probably a sad old man sat in his car watching you arrive and leave...unfortunately that's how some people get their jolly's

The signs certainly flashed in front of you, in neon!! I'm sure you have learned by your mistakes and won't do it again, there's a lot of time wasters on here and a lot of very good people, its not that difficult to pick out who falls in which category

Brighton - even Hove!

At least you got a drink in a pub with a lady that loves you. Look on the bright side, it won't happen again. Will it?
