Yes I know this isn’t a theatre review site, but I thought some of you might be in need of a little light relief from all the orgies, fistings, bondage, dp’s, ‘same and separate’ room swaps, golden showers, etcetera etcetera.
I went to the Salisbury Playhouse to see Noel Coward’s ‘Private Lives’ last night. I’ve never seen a Noel Coward before. I guess I’d always thought it wasn’t my kind of thing – bit too silly, bit too camp & affected, and not my kind of music. However, the wife-swapping and the constant stream of witty one-liners, word plays, and upper-class 1930’s speech had me laughing along with everyone else. For anyone else not familiar with Noel Coward’s stuff, it’s a bit like Oscar Wilde but a little more modern with characters bursting into song from time to time for good measure. I had a great time and would definitely go again. Probably not for most of you youngsters though LOL!
As a bonus, the theatre was absolutely stacked with immaculately turned-out and mature posh tottie: - I couldn’t help wondering how many were Fabulous Swingers as I looked around. I’m definitely going to the theatre much more often from now on! X
