Pussy seems to be the most popular term at the moment though being an older gentleman
(do you like that I thought a change from my self description of old git was in order)
anyway being I have noticed over the years that the popular name for it and many other body parts changes as much as fashion does.
There is no doubt a lot of people like to use the word cunt, many because it is quite an offensive word that many others don't like so they enjoy waving it like a flag, often to draw attention to themselves.
The word itself doesn't bother me, say to me you have a wet cunt or your looking for a nice cunt and I will understand what you are saying, call me a cunt, personally or in general terms and I will be as offended as any other derogatory term someone might use.
I guess thats the same for most words. |

Hate the Americanism's that are creeping into our language,so don't like pussy.
Don't like minge either,it sounds too much like mange and therefore some sort of disease.
Being British I prefer fanny, not struck on cunt though, although Ric might use it in the throes of passion T

I dont think I have ever called my bits the c word cos I really hate it, and to me both cunt and fanny are insults to be thrown at people when arguing very heatedly (is that even a word??)
When with the kids I call female part flowers when with my doc its my parts or vagina, when with hubby I call it my nanny "hurry up and get naked my nanny is getting cold, its not nice to have a frostbitten nanny!!"
Daft I know but first time I said it we both burst out laughing so the name stuck

All the colloquial names for girls' bits are to a greater or lesser degree, pretty tongue in cheek, and Freudian analysis of this may indicate a certain reticence to mention them in name at all, a bit like the "Scottish Play".
Pussy is probably the least tongue in cheek and most widely used and accepted, but is still a bit tongue in cheek or "polite".
In contrast, "cunt" is the most explicitly sexual name you could use, and actually in these terms, we don't have a problem with it at all. It used to be used in similar terms to "cock", but cock has become virtually mainstream whereas the Old English or Anglo Saxon, "cunt" has a double meaning which we get confused with.
A cunt of a person is a very nasty type as we know, but that isn't the root meaning of the word, which originally does mean a girl's bits with no derogatory meaning at all.
Conversely to calling someone a cunt, call a bloke, "cock" and it is almost likeable as a term, hence its acceptability.
As I say, we don't have a problem with girls' bits being called cunts when referring to them in highly charged sexual terms, but agree that in more "every day" terms, pussy is much more appropriate. We won't use the word cunt with others as we know the possible sensitivities and coarseness that can be attached to it, seeing as so many refer to their bits as something very tongue in cheek or even babyish, like tuppence! Referring to them as one's vagina is just naff and for doctors' surgeries only! |

fanny or pussy.....never cunt....unless its in the heat of play and the lady likes dirty talk. Cunt is a word of derision and can be an insult.
It comes from the anglo saxon and was actually 'Cunty'. |

'cunt' is a very old english word (and scottish - read some of robert burn's poetry!). just because some ignorant, uneducated men use it as an insult, that's no reason why the rest of womankind should abandon the word.
it shows, by the way, what these sort of backward men really think of their women, if one of the worst insults they can come up with is a word for part of the female body.
reclaim it! mine is my CUNT, not some other politically correct expression! |

Completely agrree with _eakcouple.
In the heat of passion cunt is completely acceptable as it is an Anglo saxon Pronoun for the female genatalia BUT as an insult or everyday word it is VERY offensive to either sex.
Fanny is very puritanical and pussy is an Americanism, for which there are too many creeping into the ENGLISH language |

I like to use the word cunt as it sounds very dirty and love it when a woman calls it her cunt as well.
It's only a word after all and just depends on how it is used.
But I do agree that in public pussy is a much more polite way of reference but I do like to say things like "show me your cunt" and to hear "fuck my cunt" in sexual situations it just hits the spot mentally
just like using the word slut! it does not mean that I think any less of a woman it's just sex play and never use it to put anyone down. |

Really ?
Wipe my eye then.
Compile a list of sexual euphemisms for females e.g 'slut' and then do me a list of sexual euphemisms for males.
Thanks. Can't wait to learn just ONE new one for a promiscuous male. |

It's all in the mind Granny, like the guys that are referred to as slave, or cum slut, or whatever, it's all in sexual situations is how I figure the guy is talking here.
Of course people do use terms like slut as a means to offend someone, but I figure the example here is only whilst in that zone. |

That's just the point you can use most words for male and female accept the obvious ones but you can call a man a whore slut slave cocksucker etc someone will always have their favorite words and one they just cannot stand.
As has been said by shag each to their own taste.
I just try to keep an open mind and go with the flow and have met plenty of woman who either do not mind the words cunt or slut in a sexual way and a few who just plain think that it's some kind of put down.
Some woman feel as if they are giving up control if they allow their partner to use that kind of language.
Just like some who do not like certain activities as they see it as demeaning after all we are all different. |

Disagree with you and Shag. Im not just talking partners to each other in the bedroom. Lots of words never used during 'work' or 'other' parts of the day are acceptable during sex.
I'm right. Which is why neither of you compiled a list! |

Perhaps the name should depend on how it looks.
Can't stand Gash or Minge, both sound derogatory.
If a woman has a vagina like a paper cut, then you can understand her giving it a cute little name.
On the other hand,if it looks like a fighting dogs ear then calling it "my little buttercup" may be a bit of wishful thinking.
