Preventative Blocking

Definitely a subject that's interesting! I've seen profiles, where I've never winked, had a conversation with etc, where I'm blocked

I was wondering does anyone do this and how do you select your preventative blocks, surely anyone who doesn't meet your criteria would take too long?!

Note 1: yes I realise its within the terms and conditions and its the site rules you're allowed to do it

Note 2: never sent an abusive message to anyone on here blocked or not!

Anyone who posts racist, sexist, or any other bigoted comment on the forums will be pre-emptively blocked. I know the chances of me ever meeting them is the far side of remote but always best to be certain.

That is very bias, sounds like a dictatorship,fair enough, racism, insults ect..should not be tolerated but what happens if the moderator of the site decides to block a person because he/she cant comprehend the conversation?

An alternative is accidental blocking, I have winked people numerous times due to a wrongly aimed press on the touchscreen

The topic at hand, has nothing to do wit mods or anyone else from the site ownership, but regular members of the site who have blocked him. They may already know him from real life so blocked him before he got a chance to see to much about them, or maybe he posted something in the forums that they didn't like so decided to block him, that's entirely thier choice, as everyone on here has the right to block who they like.

quite often when we are browsing profiles we will come across one that we know we will not want to meet either the age or their preferences or any of quite a lot of reasons

so we will block them it saves us looking at them over and over again when we do a search.

Parker blocks single guys who wont hold conversations with him, his _iew is we are meeting as a couple and if the guy is only interested in me they can do one.

hes not bi, but has to click socially if we are all going to play together.

Some guys (1 in the last 24 hrs ) just dont get it.

It takes a lot for me to block someone, along the lines as others, I am on the forums a lot, so if someone has posted quite a few controversial threads/comments I will block, has maybe only happened twice or those that have started to feel like stalkers, who know I am not interested but still insist on messaging, thankfully the abusive message givers have been in the past for a few months now

I use blocking as just another filter - both on this profile and the couples one. For all manner of reasons - idiotic forum posts, abusive/mind numbingly dull messages, profiles totally opposite in tastes/interests. Saves me time when browsing and saves the other party going to whatever level of effort they may have put in trying to get in touch!

If i hadn't blocked them and they spent ages writing a long, personalised message - I'd feel like a total timewaster!!

I got blocked and accused of being a time waster from a guy I said "no thanks your not for me good luck on fab" I have however blocked some guys that are rude. I'm not going to loose any sleep over it and nor are they to be honest..Mananna

We'll block people who on the Forums admit they play bareback but don't say it on their profiles.

Also, couples where the guy says he's bi on Forums but says he's straight on their profile.

When we set the couples profile up we stipulated that if we wanted to play with single guys we would seek them out. if any then contacted us the the block button kicked in, now we use mail filters more. Also if we see who has looked at us and dont feel we would want to meet, or they mention meets with caucasians only then they go on the list as well. Also gets extended to forum posters who post sexist, racist, insulting, or idiotic posts

When all is said and done, why is getting blocked by anyone such a big issue? I see it on other sites in chat, people going on and on about someone blocking them and others publicly saying just blocked....

Move on, have fun. No one is saying you are a terrible person necessarily, they are just saying i dont want to chat with you, live with it. It's not like blocking affects any site access other than to the person who has blocked you, so where this 'dictatorship' issue comes from i have no idea, the only person the blocker is dictating to is themselves, which seems fair enough to me.

I've done it. For example, a couple not wanting to meet black or asian men yet till take time to look at my profile.

I find this annoying since their preferences are clear and if I'm "not their cup of tea" what's their motivation for looking?

I've blocked for other reasons too but this reason's the most recent!

We have no filters set

We answer every single message sent and we are polite with all

Now the blocking bit ...

We block when we reply to a message and after 3 more attempts at "changing our minds" they dont get the message we just have to block

We block when someone winks us . We wink back , we message to say hello and they don't reply after 2 days and they have been online

We block so gle blokes who have straight on their profile but say they are bi curious but see that as minimising their risk of getting a meet ... Truth is if your scared if your sexuality .. You aren't for us

I do it! I have filters but I've still blocked people outside my filters if they're very local and keep looking at my profile.

I've also blocked people who constantly appear on my updates page with the same old status messages saying how desperate they are for a sh4g/bj/meet or moaning about women on Fab not being genuine!

Hmmm, gave it a go but didn't seem to work, still, its not a huge problem as there aren't a huge number of lady swingers around Coventry anyway (THATS the real problem).

It works, you might need a few refreshes for the previous updates to filter out. Unless you have them hotlisted or as a friend i think.

Agreed. Obviously couples will have bareback pictures but it's when the photos are clearly with multiple different meets.

And "single" members who let slip about their husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend during rants who winge about people not meeting them and trying to justify playing behind their partner's backs. - I know not every person we meet will genuinely be single but hey ho, we try our best. x

Why do people take blocking so personally? I might block someone for a load of reasons in the same way I won't talk to someone socially I don't want to. But at the end of the day me blocking you doesn't change who you are as a person. It's just a block get over it

When I get a "wink" or a "friend invite" I'll look at the profile. If its no photo and a quick one liner, or still writes they are new but listed as joining over a year ago... Block

Or, when I see an update that says "does this rag smell like chloroform?" IMMEDIATE BLOCK WITHOUT QUESTION. Some things you just don't joke about.

we went to a meet a while back, there was a couple who blocked us after the meet, there profile had a mile long list of things on it along with no pressure meets , well.. we didnt play with them as they were not our cup of tea and they blocked us, so in fact all the shit they wrote on their profile was horse shit, was funny really.. how cocky are they

Some time ago I had changes in my life, both personal and in my fun life. I had on my profile that I was not meeting from my single profile and asked people to respect this.

Unfortunately in a number of cases, some people though they were the exception to the rule and would not take no for an answer.

This led to me blocking quite a few profiles. I didn't give a reason to any of them as I didn't think it was necessary.

Some did get shirty about it, but my profile, my life, my decision.

Yes this. Plus the endless guys that message us not meeting our basic profile requirements. If they can't be bothered to read, why should we bother to answer! Plus on the sexuality front, some will change their profile daily to suit who theyre talking to. These people are of no interest to us.

I hid my profile for the first three days or rejoining. Blocked those that are too local and if I came across any I said no to in my previous life on here. Saves having to go through it all again.

I block people that live in my local area because it's too rural and everyone knows everyone else.

I've blocked people who are bigoted, appear to be nincompoops from their profile or forum posts, trolls, threaten to belt someone from here in their status update and a couple of people who want to meet me, but it won't happen due to distance and I've got fed up of explaining this fact.

I did nearly block myself once, after reading one of my own forum posts and concluded that it was obviously from a nutjob. Luckily I twigged on first.

I block for many reasons. If I see a forum avatar that I really dislike and they are local I will often block. Obnoxious posters. People that send messages that clearly have not read my profile. I had one the other day and after I replied to the message with a no thanks he messaged back with why not....block.

We block knobbers only after they have been a knobber whether that's abusive whining needy messages or been knobbers on the forums. Know someone on here who is utterly ruthless you look at them and your not verified then your gone!!

Never block someone purely to prevent anything however I think you may be onto something maybe time to block the lurkers who look several times a day but never message.

I (male half) of the couple generally block anybody who ignores our profile text or is pushy in any way. I have had to stop doing this lately though as I have been told that if you block too many that the oldest block gets removed. I cant risk the real weirdo's being able to contact us again.

Out of curiosity does anybody know what the limit is for number of people you can block ?

I don't think there is a limit to the number of people who you can block from contacting you.

However, if you use the chatrooms and have more than about 500 on your block list, you might find that some of the blocks don't work in chat (i.e. they can see your cam/typing, and you can see their typing, but they still can't send you messages through the inbox system).

We block people when we have said no thanks - no need for further contact.

We block people when THEY have said no thanks - no need for further contact

We block people when their forum posts show they are not the type we would like to meet

We block people when their profiles show that they are into something that is a complete no no for us, or are not into something that is a deal breaker for us.

We block people who engage in what we consider risky practices

We block people who we know meet others who engage in risky practices.

We block people who we just take a dislike to

and long may we carry on blocking!

it is a tool to help filter out people we do not want to meet, it is not a punishment or a way of putting two fingers up at people.

we have a limited amount ot time to spend looking for potential play partners, we intend to use it wisely, and so removing the people we don't want from the list is surely a good thing.
